so I was watching the pilot again (perhaps getting another browncoat in the process), and I came across it again and I was reminded how much it bugged me. Near the end, where they pulled the crazy ivan on the reavers to get away and everyones celebrating, watch Wash as he sits there, HE'S HOLDING NOTHING! His hands are positioned as if he were holding the control column\steering wheel, but there is nothing in his hands! Zero! Zip! The big '0'! Next scene, its there, that scene, nothing! Has anyone else noticed this? Am I just missing something rather obvious indeed?

Yeah, Joss even makes fun of it himself on the episode commentary. If I remember right, they couldn't get the camera situated properly with him at the steering column so they had to back him up.

Someone else will surely correct me if I'm wrong.

BTW... it's one of my favorite "bloopers."
It makes me giggle every time

Yep.... you are right. He isn't holding anything. It's VERY funny! I like the way they make fun of it in the commentary also. Cracks me up every time!

Also, notice the hand grabbing onto the bumper of the Mule, to pull it out-of-frame, after Wash tells Zoe to watch her back.
Didn't notice that one until about my 37th viewing!
