I wanted to be an actress. BIG surprise there. Was on track. Choir/dance/community theater. And then I realized that I didn't actually like for people to look at me. Sort of a weird sensation of watching myself make a fool of myself. Could never get beyond that point.
My next ambition was law school and a job as a public defender somewhere. Well babies and following a man around the world put paid to that.
So here I am. Under paid, living in podunk USA, with 2 of the loveliest children one will ever find.
How about you? Who were you going to be?

Coming from meager beginnings and living in the middle of nowhere Iowa, I didn't really have any lofty goals. I didn't think about the future...
Went to college cuz everyone else was...started out to be a teacher, but didn't like what I saw in the school system. Finally got a degree and got a job in insurance cuz it was a job and I'm still there!

wow.. how to respond to such a question... At different points in my life I have wanted to be everything from actress (age 5) to a veterinarian (age 10-13) to a sound engineer (age 17). Never really been one to follow up on dreams. The last years have been marked by my almost total lack of ambition. Where did I see my self at this point. I believe that if I take out the various career opportunities I have thought of, I am where I thought I would be, except for still living in this town. I think I saw myself as living somewhere else, somewhere more exciting or something of that sort. I am a dreamer but I am also lazy and err.. timid and somewhat of a coward so I might have disappointed my younger selves there..

I always thought I would be science fiction writer or an archeologist/astronaut/former navy seal/billionaire/adventurer.
Baring that I would settle with being a mythbuster.

Well... with my love of children, passion for acting and literature and history I honestly thought I would be an actress, and a mother... I wanted to be a mother since I was 6 years old!!!
I did study at the National Theatre Drama School and graduated in 1992, but the best roles were in the unpaid amateur (or meagrely paid fringe) theatre, and the standards were high and the experience richly rewarding, so I got jobs and kept trying for proffessional work and did some other stuff on the side... I considered being a nanny too - but it was such a fledgling industry when I left school and there weren't many opportunities to work or study...
I also considered studying history and librarian ship and going into archeology or archival work... but that meant more study and I hated the education system with a passion! I tend to keep doing my own research into topics that interest me... so here I am - almost 40, single, childless, and working as a nanny and planning to work in Europe next year... so some things have worked out and others haven't! I get to play at being a soldier at D*C - so that's kind of like acting... no? 
oh... and I just worked out how to make emotes... sorry everyone...
