Sorry, should have been clearer. It's not the job that made me sob (for once!) it was the soppy film you linked to!
Although I seem to cry a lot more easily at the moment, I just cried because my computer wouldn't let me put a bullet point where I wanted it (Damn Microsoft Word!) but that could be something to do with the 14 hours of sleep that I have had this week!

Right! It's 12:15 and I've finished tomorrow's prep. I'm off to bed to see if I can get a full 5 hours today! Then it will be the weekend and I can fall into a coma!

And not in a good way.

Especially when that person is your mother.

I mean, how could you tell your son that he's not even worth taking a day off work to celebrate his birthday.

Actually it kinda dosen't surprise me, seeing as she's never done anything for my birthday before.

Oh Honey - I know that pain too - my mother didn't invite me to a family barbequeue when my sister and her kids were down from interstate for the first time in 18 months - she thought that my being there might make it too many people - my other sister set her straight and made sure I knew it was on...

It's so nice feeling loved... ain't it?

To all the others, especially Emma who is worth a million of those little twats any day! I thiank you from the bottom of my heart - I had to get off line soon after posting my pathetic little pity party - and I was talking to Rose who kept me updated on your messages as they were posted - I can't tell you how much I treasure you all - browncoats are the shiniest folk in the 'verse and I feel so blessed to count myself among you all!

And Jimi-bear - you made me smile so big!! Thank you my wonderful friend!

*gee strolls into the bar, saunters up to the counter and tosses a huge wad of cashy money onto the bar*

Morning all, today is a good day, well yesterday was but didn't get a chance to say anything but anyhow...

My amazing other half, who I have been trying to support with various degrees of success over the last five years got her first teaching job yesterday. She doesn't start till August and there is the minor matter of finishing and graduating her course but the job is hers. To celebrate her amazingness I am declaring today officially part of the weekend and all drinks are on me!

I will be in the corner drinking green tea and working away with the largest grin you have ever seen.

Yay! Another recruit to the masocistic pleasures of teaching. Point her in the direction of this site, I've had more help from MsG, Neko and DTH that from anyone else and I treasure the precious resource that is my clever Firefly buds. I'd be happy to swap horror stories and beef up inspiration too once she starts!

Congratulations to your other half gee.

To gee's other half: "Welcome to the 'toughest job you'll ever love'." (Peace Corps didn't realize that they were talking about teachers. *heh*)

For anyone who teaches and touches a life, I saw this quote that helped today: "Teachers are the ones who start a job that they don't see the end of, and aren't appreciated until after the fact."

To everyone else with happy news: congratulations.

To those who've been under a lot of stress and unhappiness: I hope things get better for you sooner than later -- or at least some way to find some peace of mind.

Thanks guys, I think she's going to be great at this, her mum's a teacher too and she has plenty of classroom experience so think she's got a head start on some. Funny thing is I'm stupidly proud of her but desperately trying not to sound like a pompous patronising fool. Should mean I can look to maybe restart my education part-time once she's settled too.

Just wondering if anyone here could help me.
I've read the threads teaching you how to post custom avatars and I still can't get rid of the Serenity Avatar from FFF.net list. I think I managed it earlier today but it came back on another post.
Any ideas or advice?

PS: By the way I'm not the best with computers, I don't know what "Cookies" are let alone how to clear them.
