Firefly/Buffy characters

CHAPTERANDVERSE

Was listening to the Firefly commentaries again the other night and Joss compared Jayne to Cordelia (They both say what everyone else is thinking but is too polite to point out) and Jewel to Alison Hannigan (Sweet actresses who break your heart when they are heart-broken). Its probably already been discussed but it got me thinking:
If Jayne=Cordelia
and Kaylie=Willow
Then Does...
Wash=Zander
Mal=Buffy
Shepard=Giles
Saffron=Spike
What do you think folks?

Yeah I totally agree except with Mal=Buffy. I think Zoe is closer to Buffy. Maybe Mal=Angel??

I think that the Inara/Mal relationship is more like the Spike/Buffy relationship. They clearly want each other but they spend their time insulting each other instead....
Like Buffy and Spike, they would have eventually gotten together...
Maybe they would not have demolished a house in the process---perhaps made the firefly a bit messy maybe!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Hmm, if Zoe is Buffy than River would be Faith. Wash would definitely be Xander, Kaylee would be Willow, Mal would be Angel, Inara would be Cordelia (only Angel Cordy not Buffy Cordy because Inara isn't bitchy), Jayne would be Spike, and Mal would be Angel, and I guess Book would be Giles. Not too sure who Simon would be though...maybe Oz? At least that's how I'd see them, though obviously Buffy and Angel would never get together in that type of 'verse.

Wash: This landing is gonna get pretty interesting
Mal: Define "interesting".
Wash: Oh God, of God, we're all going to die?

Hmm. I'm thinking...

River = Drusila, crazy!Fred, Buffy,... Dawn?

Simon = Wesley

Inara = Tara, Cordelia

Jayne = Corcelia,.. Faith?

Kaylee = Willow, happy!Fred

Wash = Xander (but with less issues)

Saffron = Anya

Shepherd = Giles

Zoe = Gunn? I'm having a hard time finding a parallel of a truly competent, nearly equal second-in-command in the Buffyverse, but maybe I'm just missing something.

Mal = Angel (but with less brooding)
