I go to bed early, so every night I tell my wife (of course)...."I'll be in my bunk"

to a coworker: "Your talent for alienatin' folks is near miraculous..."

I'm lookin' for the chance: "How come you got a wife, and all I got is this dumbass stick sounds like rain????"

so many, can't remember them all!

Dear Diary: Today I was pompous and my sister was crazy. Today, we were kidnapped by hillfolk never to be seen again. It was the best day ever.

Hi all.

I have used the quote ""Where does that get fun?" more often than I care to admit.... especially at work, in the last 2 days!!! [I've been off work sick for a week and a bit (that's when I found and fell in love with Firefly/ Serenity) and I've been getting a lot of "flack" from my boss since returning and now I HATE my job with such a passion to the point that I'm seriously thinking about quitting and getting a new job in the same field - can't let a Nursing qualification go to waste!] I have used a phrase similar to that in the past, but this one is WAAAAY better! LOL.

Another couple I would like to use, but no one would get the reference is "Shiny" and "Look at all the pretties". I think they are great. I find I'm muttering "Shiny" to myself whenever things are going great.... not that I've had much reason to [but I've managed to set up a job interview on the 16th of May (keep your fingers crossed for me), and I've got a Nursing Agency chasing me via the phone to get me to interview also!!!!) so it will be "shiny, shiny, shiny.... if it all goes according to plan!" Then I can kick the job I currently have...... yehaw! or at least seriously slash my hours so I can hopefully avoid the boss and it will be "shiny" too! hahahaaaaaa.

OOOOPPPPS.

Sorrry.

Didn't mean to tell you all my life story... kind of slipped out. But boy.... it feels good to get it off my chest.

Catch ya later

Hey, we're right there with you, Jollie. Hope it all works out!

It really does go to show how well those Firefly-isms apply to real life, though, don't it?

And how!

Another of my favourites, whenever I get an idea: 'Think now I got a notion regarding that.' Or, when I've got an engineer and brakeman who are particularly fond of busting each other's balls: 'One of you is gonna fall and die and I'm not cleanin' it up!'

Pretty much the only non-Malocution I use every day is 'No power in the 'verse can stop me' (esp. when I've done the impossible). It is my sweetie's most famous line, though, so it works well enough.

I'm still waiting for some engineer who doesn't like the way I work so I can tell him, 'You don't wanna fly with me anymore, this is your port o' harbour.'

Also I often use "damaging my calm" with my students and "does that seem right to you?"

Oh, Iuse more than a few in normal speak. Like coin for money, not so much, and others. But by far there is one phrase that has become so standard that my wife and I had forgotten we got it from the 'verse: son of a whore.

Wasn't that well said? Almost has a sense of poetry to it.

"Oh my god it's grotesque! Oh and there's something in a jar!"

Going to try and get this into a conversation at some point.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
"Love. You can do all the math in the 'Verse, but you take a boat in the air you
don't love, she'll shake you off sure as a turnin' of worlds. Love keeps her in
the air when she oughtta fall down. Tells you she's hurtin' 'fore she keens.
Makes her a home." Mal
