SPOILER ALERT:

Select to view spoiler:

If the warning to Martha's mum came directly from Mr. Saxon, then you have to wonder just how many bodies the Master has taken over since that is not the same "man" we know to be Mr. Saxon later in the season.

Just my initial reaction.

Well,

Perhaps the message came from Mr. Saxon but was delivered by someone else? Kind of like saying an order comes "straight from the top".

Well here's my thoughts on the last couple of comments....

Select to view spoiler:

I think the man was Saxon, he seemed to know who the Doctor was and stuff about him. If he was just a second in command or whatever then he wouldn't have made the earlier comments to Martha's mum.
The fact that Saxon was involved in this kind of experiment leads me to think that he is still looking for ways to prolong his life/regenerate etc. I seem to remember this being something he was after the last time we saw him with the earlier Doctor's.
Maybe the person we think is going to play Saxon will be the revealing change to the Doctor, the point when he realises who it really is?? Maybe, maybe not.

On a different story I have an idea of how the Daleks can come back. When the Doctor was on top of the Empire State Building and the lightning hit him it added Timelord DNA into the experiment. Now the surviving Dalek was linked up to this, so what if the Doctor's DNA entered the Dalek, therefore allowing it to regenerate, and any clones it then makes of itself. The Dalek said that their earlier experiments hadn't succeeded but now maybe they will. Also, it wouldn't be the first time they have used Timelord tech to survive.

Makes her a home." Mal

It seems to me that they resolved the whole Martha - Doctor relationship. While it was never verbalized, it seemed to me that Martha established her role as Companion (or friend) to The Doctor, and not a new love interest.

Did anyone else get that feeling, or am I just grasping at straws here?

Oh btw, since I live in the U.S. and my exposure to Doctor Who is sporadic at best, would someone mind telling me which incarnation out of 12 we are at? Thanks a ton!

David Tennant is the 10th Doctor (since he can regenerate 12 times, he would actually have 13 'lives').

More along the lines of Martha definitely wants the Doctor's babies (can't judge for myself but I understand that Mr Tennant is considered "well fit" by much of the female - and some of the male - population) but he is still carrying a torch for Rose.

However, I think this was the first ep. that they didn't make some reference to Rose - so maybe that was the intention.

On one of the "Dr Who Confidential" shows (basically, in the UK, the DVD-extras-to-be are shown on a minority digital-only channel after the episode on BBC1) RTD said that there's going to be an unrequited love theme this time round.

I think the trailer they showed wasn't for the next ep it was for the rest of the season, still it was awesome.

After the next ep there's an upcoming 2-parter written by the guy who wrote "fathers day" (from the first season of this new batch of Doctor Who).
Which I'm looking forward to. Also this whole "Saxon" deal is really interesting

I reckon that it is the guy from the previews (John Simm) and not the chap who was talking to Martha's mum. I agree with the idea that the "information came directly from Mr Saxon" in the sense of "came straight from the top" not directly as in it was him whispering in her ear. I doubt Mr Saxon would get so little attention at a big posh gathering like that.
I do think it's likely Saxon'll turn out to be The Master but it might be a red herring. I love the idea that Simm might be playing a timelord after life on mars

In a recent interview on "Parkinson", David Tennant did seem to indicate there was a lot more going on than anyone realizes yet...
