As for props or costumes, click around this site, there's lots! For starters, you might want to read over the 76th Battalion threads, of which there are many. Tristan, in particular, will lead you to much costumey goodness, although there are many many more Browncoats who are into dressing up. You'll find a lot of them here.

Sad to hear that your Best Buy sent the copies of Serenity back, but good for you for finding one and purchasing it. There is a special edition dvd for Serenity coming out in July. Be sure to pick it up.
