My dog died today, and I'm very sad.

It's hard for me to describe how empty I feel right now, but when my 10 year old Huskie died today, I feel like I died too.

She's not going to be at the door to greet me when I get home from work, she's not going to sleep near my bed, and she's not going keep me company when I stargaze on warm summer nights, or run through piles of leaves that I raked in the Fall. She's gone.

I'm so sorry if this thread brings you down, but I have to write about it. Don't even know if this will help the healing process, but it's on my mind, and I can't not think about it.

After she passed away, I thought a long time if she had a soul, and if there is an afterlife for her, that she can be happy, and free of the pain that she endured in her last days. I can't even stand to think of the alternative, which would be that she suffered, and then everything went black for her...forever.

I wish that I could hug her one more time, and tell her what a good dog she was. I'm going to miss her.

Oppyh,

I'm so sorry. I know exactly the emptiness you feel, for I felt it too when I lost my cocker spaniel Jack.

My husband and I stood and sobbed when he left us and I asked a lot of the same questions.

Here's the answer as far as I believe...

A creature as loving and beloved as my Jacky could not have just slipped into "the black". He had a soul and a conscience. He is where I will go when I die.

It will get better. I promise. You will still miss your beloved companion, but you will be able to speak of her without crying, you will smile when you remember what she did and you will love again.

These things happened for me. I know they will happen for you.

**HUGS**

I'm so sorry that you lost your dog.
Hey, Oppyh it's good to write these things down when you're feeling sad so, no need to apologize. I cried a tear too, 'cause I know how you must feel. My dog was like a second child to me. It's hard not to be heartbroken when they're gone, after years of loyalty and unconditional love for you. I'd never seen my partner cry like he did the night we buried our pal 18 months ago.
Like FollowMal said it will get better.

*slips into the thread to give her FFF.net family member a huge and gentle and loving hug...*

I know sweetie - it hurts like hell when you can't hold them again... it will take time, and you just let it... in the mean time we are here for you - we are your browncoat family and many of us have shared your pain...

I'm so sorry... you have my deepest sympathies.

I've been where you are now (twice) and it can be incredibly hard to bear, but there will come a time when you will remember all the joys you had with your pup without it hurting so badly.

And if there's a heaven for anyone at all, it's definitely for dogs. No creature so full of unconditional love could possibly wind up anywhere else.

So... your puppy's up there playing with my puppies, enjoying themselves until we get to join them someday. At least that's the way I like to picture it... hope it helps.

What sad news, maybe you need to think on what an amazing life she had, you hear of so many neglected and abused animals yet your lovely husky sound like she had the best owner in the world, someone who loved her and will never forget her. As a keen doglover my thoughts are with you!

I never wanted to know
Never wanted to see
I wasted my time
Till time wasted me
Never wanted to go
Always wanted to stay
'Cause the person I am
Are the parts that I play
So I plot and I plan
Hope and I scheme
To the lure of a night
Filled with unfinished dreams
And I'm holding on tight
To a world gone astray
As they charge me for years
I can't pay

I'm really sorry about your loss, Oppyh. I lost one of my dogs over a year ago now, and the memory still hurts sometimes. It'll take a little time, but I know you'll make it through okay. And you'll always have us to help you through.

Oppyh, I am so sorry to hear about the loss of your husky. We can see how much she meant to you. I think all of us have experienced that loss before, I know I have and I can tell you that even though it hurts now, it will get easier.

Hold on to the happy memories of her and know that somehow, someway, she will be waiting for you on the other side to gaze at stars and meet you at the gate when you finally arrive.

Take care and keep flyin' my friend.
