Alan Tudyk in I, Robot

I had a thought if Alan Tudyk is the title character in "I,Robot" making him if not the star at least the co-star of Will Smith wich is huge by Hollywood standards. And is comming out in another movie "Dodgeball:A True Underdog Story" that might indicate he's worth a lot more now and could be the reason there has been no confirmation yet of him being in the Firefly movie.

I'm sure he'll do the film and it's not like even if he does become a real star I think he'd stiff the Firefly fans by saying not enough money or something. But with Alan's star on the rise it could make for some tough contract negotiations.

Just a thought.

Yeah they are both in, they said they were in during the sci-fi/comic convention in san fran on Dec 4th (a year and a day since they were told they're cancled)

As for my comment about Alan Tudyk being the title character, I don't actually think it translates into that much screen time. Sadly "title character" and "star" are not synonymous in this case.

Apparently Nathan Fillion was once referred to as the "title character" in Saving Private Ryan even though his character was a different Private Ryan. I never did hear if it seemed like the article's writer was trying to be funny, or just hadn't actually seen the movie...

Actually, this may mean a lot of work as the orig. tale of "I, Robot" was the first of three novels spanning a long stretch of time. In fact the human cast changes book to book.

There were prodigies and portents enough, One-Eye says. We must blame ourselves for misinterpreting them. One-Eye's handicap in no way impairs his marvelous hindsight.

LOL When I saw the title of this thread I thought you meant he'd been in the Buffy episode I Robot You Jane! I didn't even know he was in a movie called I Robot. I'll have to check it out.

I know there are far too many good books out there for anyone to have read them all - but I, ROBOT is based on some of the nummiest science fiction ever written. Considered by some to be the definitive Aasimov. Not just for the sci-fi fan, either, these are very accessible novels, great characterization, etc. It does what all great science fiction does, and one of the things I think we all love Firefly for: presents the wondrous potentialities and seemingly paradoxical baseness of human nature. A very worthwhile read, and certainly best to be read BEFORE watching the movie, although that may be my own bias. I admit, I think it ALWAYS best to read the book before seeing the movie.
