A corporation to bring back Firefly

I’m new to the verse and after having watched every episode at least three times I have reached the same conclusion that many of you on this site have, that 14 episodes just isn’t enough! So being the idealistic brown coat that I am I decided to tackle the problem and here is the solution I came up with, if you think it has merit, talk about it, email me, email people who are higher up in the brown coat movement than I am and let’s get the ball rolling. Well here it is, enjoy.

Could we set up a non-profit corporation with the sole objective of bringing the show firefly back into production? The logistics of this would be complicated to say the least but in theory it could work. If we could get Joss Whedon to become its CEO, he could direct the funds to where they would do the most good, I’m guessing acquiring various rights to the firefly franchise from Fox.

The way I see it, if we can organize this corporation then it can only do good. Joss has proven that he is committed to using the Firefly franchise to raise money for charitable works, Can’t Stop Serenity being a great example, just imagine how much more he could accomplish if the show were to go on for another 4 seasons and gain millions more fans.

In addition, we can build a timetable into the corporate charter, so that if despite our efforts we can’t get back firefly, that all the money we raise goes to the various charities that Joss and the cast support, Equality Now, the Fringe Theater Association, the Marine Corps Law Enforcement Foundation, the Children with Aids Projects, the Multiple Sclerosis Society, ect.

I would be willing to put in the leg work to help get this thing set up, and then turn it over to someone else to run, gather the funds, and eventually distribute the money ether to resurrecting Firefly or to worthy charities. Credit for your thoughts?

I was on the losing side, still not convinced it was the wrong one.

Hello and welcome!

Your idea, as well intentioned as it seems: No.
Many things similar have been suggested, attempted, and completely shot down.
(Joss has even asked that people do NOT collect money for the purpose of "funding" Firefly.)

A corporation or a holdings company cannot "bring back Firefly."

It's not just a matter of "bringing it back," it's a matter of legal rights. (I feel like a broken record.)

We've been at this since the end of 2002.
Be patient.
