No need fer blushin' Miss Bernadette... If Covington is anywhere near Atlanta (??), then I'm sure you've noticed that around Labor Day every year, that Atlanta is overrun by folks in strange costumes, speaking in other languages (or just antiquated versions of English), and just generally act strange - mostly centered around the Hyatt and the Marriott Marquis near Peachtree Center. The chaos that reigns during that weekend is called Dragon*Con.
If Covington's NOT near Atlanta, then you probably haven't experienced this. It's a huge convention (normally around 20,000 folks), centered around just about any form of science fiction, fantasy, etc. Usually, there are tons of guests - TV/movie personalities, authors, artists, bands, and all manner of cool folk associated with putting our favorite 'verses(Star Trek, Star Wars, Babylon 5, Buffy, The Wheel of Time, Pern, and on and on and on) together. We're working on wearing down the folks who run DC and getting them to have some Firefly guests this year (last year they had a fan-run discussion panel).
For more information (or if I just confused you), check out their website at www.dragoncon.org.

Thanks ~A~ for the learnin'. It's a shame that I've lived here for 6 yrs and never heard of this Convention. Anyway, I will do my duty as a Atlanta Browncoat and request... ahem DEMAND that they have a Firefly Panel and/or guest.
Covington is approx. 45 miles East of Atlanta.
On a different note, I have oficially converted one of my co-worker. I've been lending out 1 disc at a time [because i couldn't part with the entire set or I would go through withdrawals
& that wouldn't be Pretty]He's watching the 3rd disc now [my favorite]. I told him about OUR movie in 2005 and he stated Yea, I'll go see it!' so 1 down 500 to go.
I'm soooooo excited about the movie, has anyone heard any news on Alan or Ron [Gotta have them]Bernie

Three cheers for Bernadette, SHINY! SHINY! SHINY! for doing her part to get our Firefly cast to DC. Looking forward to meeting with all the Browncoats. Wow, only 45 min from Atlanta and never heard of DragonCon, I'm glad we were able to let you know about it. Thanks to Astriana for the brief description.
Just an idea regarding hooking new Firefly fans, after they're hooked from watching the first disk, have them go buy the set in order to watch the rest. We need people buying those sets! Yes, I'm mean and evil when it comes to supporting Firefly.

Thanks Merat. We don't ask, we don't get. It may very well be that the cast will still be filming Serenity but if it's toward the end of the shoot (aren't most movie shoots like 10-12 weeks?) maybe some of the cast will be done with their parts and able to make DragonCon! Hope to meet you in Atlanta!

Its weird, I've lived in either Athens or Norcross for nearly 17 years, and I've YET to attend one of these. 'bout time I fixed that oversight.
Someone out there was going to find out that their worst nightmare was a maddened Librarian.

I'm in b'ham, al and am planning on attending Dragoncon. I have sent 2 or 3 emails to the con folks in the past couple of months and have not rec. any response to date.
May have been the losing side. Still not convinced it was the wrong one.
