"Tracy" on Angel

That WAS Tracy, right? I'm not as religious a viewer of Angel ( yeah yeah ,blasphemer that I am ), and sorry if this is old news, but I had a question about our pal Tracy.
How come one shot on Angel kills the guy right off, where as on Firefly, he takes 2 pretty good shots and hangs around for .... a darn good while? Excellent episode of Angel,btw....

He was hit by a giant oxygen tank or similar in the face last I checked...

Yes, Knox (Tracy) has been around all season on Angel, though not in every ep - he was also in Buffy's 'Conversations with Dead People'. One of Joss's hat tricks. ;)
As for the shot - well. Wesley's quite a good shot. I imagine he knew just where and how to aim. He's not terribly forgiving at the moment.
