On the range they tell you always to keep the barrel of the weapon pointed down-range if you have a round in the chamber (and at the ground or the sky, if not). This way, you never point the weapon at a person you don't intend to kill. So we're out at the range with this FNG when his rifle jams. Pursuant with the range safety brief, he stands stock still with barrel down-range and puts one hand up in the air to signal a range master. When the range master (an old Senior Chief Navy SEAL) comes over to check out the problem, this idiot starts turning his whole body, barrel and all toward the Senior Chief. I've never seen a guy move so fast: the Senior Chief grabs the barrel in both hands and yanks the guy off balance, then lets go with his right hand and elbows the guy square in the kisser. Newbie dropped like a sack o' potatoes. That'll learn 'im!

Causal, thanks for the public service announcement. That is one thing we are trying to be sure the 76th knows. As for in here...it makes a prettier picture with fingers on triggers.
