I like to call 'em bookend scenes- the teaser and the tag.
Joss does them very well. Often they have not much, or even nothing , to do with the main plot, but it's amazing to see how much story he can pack into just a few minutes-- OMR is a perfect example-- gunfight, funerals, and takeoff in less than 6 minutes.

"Our Mrs. Reynolds" is my favorite comedy teaser, "Out of Gas" is a good teaser as far as cinematography and story-telling goes, and "Objects in Space" is the best weird/different (in a good way!) teaser.

It's gotta be Our Mrs. Reynolds. That's hialrious from the first work. Absolutely the best.

God, I love all the teasers, I think. But my three favorites have to be:

Our Mrs. Reynolds: All the humor, and your little glimpse of everyone at the celebration is so cute. (Actually, it's one of my favorite Wash/Zoe moments ever...)

Out of Gas: I actually love this entire episode, but it's such a great beginning with the flahsback and the harsh contrast between the drama of the present and comedy of the past.

Objects in Space: Getting inside River's head, and the way it's done, is just amazing. It's extremely beautiful and specific to each character. (And yet another of my favorite Wash/Zoe moments... I could watch that small little scene between them over and over and still get chills!)

But I really love them all... Every teaser really catches your attention.

Not really openers but they are the first things that come out of Wash's mouth in a couple eps.....

Sample #1 " Yes.. this is a fertile land. We will live here and call this land...this land."

Sample #2 " OH MY GOD IT"S GROSS!!And wait there's something in a jar."

I'd definately have to go with the OMR opener... solely because of the gunfight.

The reverse-ambush was something straight out of a spaghetti western, and I felt that element was a little too light in the series. They also managed to inject some standard-firefly-fare Mal crossdressing/nudity humor which is always good.

My least favorite would be safe. watching creatures get skinned always makes me uncomfortable... and i felt the "deliverance mountain men" part of the teaser was one of the weakest scenes in the whole series.

I'd have to go with the opening of Serenity (the pilot episode), with the hilarious flower bonnet Our Mrs. Reynold's a close second.

I am evil, I am sly, and if you get eaten no one will cry.

Our Mrs. Reynolds is my favorite, though the intro to OoG sets up some great storytelling.

Out of Gas - Im a HUGE fan of a mystery and that episode really starts out strongly. I remember yelling...WHAT THE ^@*&@~!!

Some of the closeups on Nathan are amazing, the look of hopelessness on his face as he falls to the floor is one image that doesnt fade with time! Also the look of love when we skip back in time to when he first saw serenity. WOW!

My favourites are:

Our Mrs. Reynolds: The dialouge between Mal and Jayne is hilarious

War Stories: Just 'cause

and The Message: Soley for Jayne's one-liner "What'd y'all go order a dead guy for?"
