I have a theory on how Xena is winning. Wondering if the computer folk can chime in on this:

First theory: they are using a something similar to the Flyvote program; however, their version actually casts the vote automatically every hour. 23 votes per day * several people leaving computers on 24/7 = Kicking Browncoat butt

Second theory: Couple of folk have found a way to vote more than once an hour. Is it possible to trick the server to think you havent voted in the last hour?

Third theory: Its a Cylon conspiracy... Garram toasters.

If only I could find a way to trick the rule... I'd vote 50 times per day :) Lexx and our allies incl you would become the top 5 in no time.

no I don't believe they have found a way to trick the 60 minutes rule. If they did, they'd be getting many more votes.

My bump may be the only one from this hour, but it's unique and special! I love my bump!

I'd like to say this.

I firmly believe that the Xena folks are playing 100% by the rules; no ifs ands or buts.

First theory: From a "computer science" perspective, such a program is possible. Rich (who runs TV_Vote) is a pretty bright guy. My guess is if he saw a trend, especially in a large group of voters like us Firefly crew (or other crews who will go nameless), he'd simply start throwing all our votes away. It does not take a rocket scientist to figure out folks don't vote 23.9 times a day when they are doing it manually; at least, not for more than a day or two.

Second theory: There are ways. And Rich knows most of 'em and throws 'em out. Can it be done and not be caught? Sure. Will I say here how? Absolutely not. (edit: Nor will I provide suggestions to cheat elsewhere.) Do I think this is what Xena folks are doing? Seriously doubt it. If you think this is the case it is only because you have not examined the extremely organized way the Xena fans coordinate.

Third theory: This is a distinct possiblity. We've sent a few spies disguised as human looking cylons into thier midst and have found the central cylon authority is requiring all networks to broad cast Xena shows with the TV_vote website URL running in the bottom of the screen like a school closing alert. There's even rumors that cylons get brownie points for voting for Xena.

---------------------------------------

I firmly believe that Xena is competing on the "high and fair ground."

I'm voting when I can (at home).
Seems (speculating here), that I twigged the bot flag at the vote site from work. Scenario: Flyvote timer goes off on my main PC, I cycle through my computers, casting votes using a KVM (Keyboard Video Mouse) switch (lets me operate them all from same KV&M), I vote from the flvote PC last, so I know it's been more than an hour since the last vote from any machine (by a minute or two).
Apparently that's a bit too regular for the vote site.

Anyone else who may be in a similar situation:
Pick a show near the bottom of the nomination list, record its votes, cast a few for it, check tomorrow to make sure they counted. That's how I found mine weren't counting anymore.

So even though it says 1 vote per IP per hour is allowed, it doesn't seem to be quite true.

ALTERNATE THEORY:
LeadB et al please sanity check this one:
Perhaps my corporate IT dept/firewall isn't allowing my votes to go out somehow? I transfer data to/from other sites, but maybe this one has been specifically blocked? I can post here, and elsewhere, so this is feeling pretty thin. Why block a site that isn't receiving much in the way of data?
