This thread speaks to me on many levels. Perhaps I should explain. I have been diagnosed as schizophrenic and have been on medication for this disorder since last May. Previous to this I could not use a standard bathroom commode because of my irrational fear that the Welsh Fusiliers were staging a bayonet attack from the sewer that would result in my having a lacerated backside also with puncture wounds. I am also a recovering porn addict. Firefly has helped me with this too. I began my recovery when a friend, also a porn addict, died in tragic circumstances. He had become a recluse and covered every flat surface of his apartment with pornographic material. When the police entered his apartment after a neighbor reported a bad smell (his rotting body) they said it was very disorienting because of all the porno it was hard to tell where the walls stopped and the cieling and floors began. My friend had also constructed a wire frame that he could wear on his head which contained pornographic material - this way he would never have to stop looking at porno. One day while wearing the wire contraption he stood on a chair to change a light bulb and fell off. The wire contraption hooked onto the light fixture and he hanged himself. This event made me give up pornography.
My only problem was I still wanted to look at porn. I was abstaining, but the desire was still there. Until I found Firefly. For some reason Firefly has lessened my need to masturbate to pornography. I still do masturbate, but now it is only 2 to 3 times daily (down from 10 to 20) and only to TV guide, Oprah magazine, and the Reader's Digest joke section.
Have any of you read Sophie's Choice? You know at the end when she is making love to Stingo and she says "I can't stop coming"? That's how I feel about Firefly, except it is a spiritual ejaculation I experience.
