hello
I'm new to the boards so be gentle.:)

I'm working on making 12" figures of the Firefly crew and I need some good pictures of Jayne's guns or at least pictures of similar types of weapons.
specifically the gun that resides in his leg holster and the infamous 'Vera'

thanks

The gun jayne uses is a modified lemat cavalry revolver. It was used by the confederates so you may be able to find it in 1/6 scale.

Vera is a complete custom and was originally featured in the movie showtime with Eddie murpy and robert deniro.

Navy Arms is an importer of replica firearms; they have three diffrerent LaMat's on their site. None of them are Jayne's, however. His has what looks like a Weaver accessory rail mounted on top.

Jon, also new to the boards.

Ok, from what i can make out; they took a LeMat (probably the army model), removed the loading lever on the left side of the barrel, removed the front sight, added the weaver mount, and then converted it to fire cartridges.

Actually it's the cavalry model, because of the trigger guard and the lanyard ring. Also the ram rod is still there. They just put a different type of holder to accomadate the size of the "weaver" mount.

Also they removed the shotgun barrel and put a custom piece.

Do you know which type of scope mount was used. It looks to be just a custom piece, since there no grooves or slots to accomadate a scope.

Your right about it being a cavalry model, but the shotgun barrel is still there otherwise there would be nothing to hold the gun together.

give my reguards to "Big Guy"

See that's what i thought to, about the shotgun. But at the beginning of ariels, you know jayne is cleaning his gun, and when he's putting it back together, he is putting something in the shot gun mount, but it's not the original barrel.

check out this link and let me know what you think

It looked to me as if the shotgun barrel had been removed & replaced with some other part.
