I got this yesterday. It is a crappy picture from a crappy webcam:

It's Euler's Identity: e^(j*pi) + 1 = 0 , which I just think is neat. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Euler%27s_Identity

I want others. I want to get the patch for the 76th Independent Battalion on one of my upper arms, and I want some sort of band to go all the way around one of my limbs that incorporates both of my sons' names. I also have a 10g bar through my tongue that I have had for 6 years now, and I had a lip ring, but it healed up too quickly after taking it out one summer.

The equation has various uses as an identity, but its most important characteristic is its mathematical beauty. Not just beauty, but sexiness. Basically, to us mathematicians, looking at it is all the foreplay we need.

Khyron nailed it, it is neat because of the things that make it up. As for usefulness, it really doesn't have any, unless it is to remind you of Euler's Formula by showing what it should work out to.

Looking at it from a magickal standpoint, it has 3 irrational numbers, 5 constants, and 7 total symbols, all of which are powerful numbers.

To be fair, it does have uses as an identity; I used it a couple of times already when working with complex variables, and if I remember correctly I used it once to significantly simplify a Fourier transform.
