Looks like one FOX series will be around for the forseeable future:

Fox's new series Fastlane is cruising over to MTV. In an unprecedented deal, MTV will re-air episodes of Fastlane at least eight days after its original Wednesday night bow on Fox. According to Variety, the cable network plans to run Fastlane on Sunday and Monday nights at 11 pm starting Oct. 13. The premiere of Fastlane — which stars MTV alum Bill Bellamy, as well as Tiffani Thiessen and Peter Facinelli as crime fighters — won its time slot last week, garnering 10 million viewers.

So whatever happened to that repurposing deal for Firefly?

I'm trying to fend off the creeping pessimism... I really am trying, but it's getting hard.

I hope beyond hope that Firefly pulls in more viewers on Friday... or at least wins the 18-49 demo again.

I don't think there's much reason to expect a significant jump in viewers this week. But hopefully they will be at least as good or slightly better, giving Fox reason to think it can build to better things in time. I see that Fastlane dropped from a first week 7.0 to a second week 5.6, so I think it would be encouraging for Firefly to show even a small gain.

The one person I spoke to about Fastlane, who said the premiere episode was okay, decided to give the show another shot this week at earning her as regular viewer. Unfortunately, she saw part of last night's episode and just couldn't finish it. In her opinion, it was bad. She said she's not watching it next week.

I told her to give Firefly a shot on Friday, but she said SciFi and Western are just not her thing. Oh well, at least I tried.
