OOC: Seryn! I was expecting something "non-gloomy" from you! My post is just going to make it even more depressing
No talkiness done for Milton and Amy, but here's Clayton's part, which may be a pre-cursor to future events
---
There was one story that stood out of the rest. One that had peaked Clayton's interest when it first hit the news a little over a year ago, and admittedly one that he'd forgotten about until now.
It's a tale of a girl...
"What can you tell us about Claire?" Clayton asked, getting straight down to business.
Opposite him sat Alex Tamworth, a former bartender in his late twenties whose stubble and large bags under his eyes indicated he hadn't had much sleep
"What do you wanna know?" Tamworth asked the reporter and his silent colleague. Truth be told, he had had enough of reporters last year when they first started interviewing him but I guess thats the price you pay when your girlfriend goes nuts and starts killing people.
Even so, spilling the deep dark secrets of a lover still sat uneasy with Alex.
"Listen." Clayton said, dropping the straight reporter act and leaned forward. "I know you're probably wondering where the hell I get off, dragging up the past like this, but I need to know about Claire. I've read the news, I know how everything all ended, but that's not what I'm interested in. I wanna know how it started. I wanna find out what happened to her."
Alex paused for a second, still not quite understanding what their agenda was, or what they were going to do with the information.
"Why? You writing a biography?"
Clayton shook his head and confessed, "No. Please, we're not here to cause trouble, or to sully her name. If anything, we might be able to put your mind at rest, to help you understand the reason why she did what she did."
Alex stood up. He couldn't believe their nerve. They came here to get infomation out of him, and now they were doing it under the guise of helping him! "You know what, I think you're full of fei hua." It had taken him over a year to get over the tragedy, and now here two men were trying to make sure he never forgot it. "Get out"
Clayton began to rise, holding his hands up in a defensive apologetic gesture "Wait..."
"Get out. I don't wanna hear it"
"Sit down." The second man ordered politely
"Sorry?" Alex asked, not quite believing what he just heard.
"Take a seat Mr Tamworth"
Strangely enough, Alex complied without so much as a hesitation. He didn't quite understand it, other than it seemed like a perfectly logical thing to do
"My name is Robert" he said calmly "We don't mean to cause you any stress. We just need for you to tell us about Claire."
"Yes. Of course" Alex replied, his spirit instantly calmed. Then, after thinking for a moment, he started relating to them the story.
"She was a great girl. Beautiful. Bit timid at first, but when you got to know her, she was... She was just amazing, through and through. But then, one crazy random night a guy comes up to demanding cash and... she was killed."
Robert and Clayton listened intently to the story, waiting for him to continue
"Then, the craziest thing happened. She was fine. Everything was fine."
Suddenly the story began to sound oddly familiar

"That night at the hospital was one I'll never forget" Alex continued. "Her brother had been with her and brought her in. He was the one that told me - that the doctor's couldn't resuscitate her, that there was too much blood loss. But I had to see it for myself.
"I can't get that image out of my head. She laid there still as anything. Her body had been covered, but the blood seeped through the covers from where he had stabbed her. I looked at her for ages and... it didn't seem like her. It was like a mannequin of her. Just a shell. But she was gone, there was no doubt of it."
Tears rolled down the face of Alex as he relived it.
"About a half hour later, her parents arrived and I went to meet them, to see them. But, when I brought them back with me to see her... it was like, something out of a dream. She was fine. Everything was fine. The wounds which were once gaping cuts, now seemed so small, as if they had already begun to heal. And she was breathing. Shallow breaths, but breathing nonetheless. She opened her eyes and... I couldn't believe it. It was like a dream. An incredbily wonderful dream, and one that I didn't want to wake up from.
"The doctor's couldn't believe it either. It made the papers that a woman had miraculously come back to life, but soon that went away. It seems the doctors didn't want to seem like idiots who couldn't tell if someone was alive or dead, and so naturally told the reporters that the news had merely been embellished upon and was nothing more than the result of the hard work of surgeons.
"But it wasn't. I know. I was there. It was a miracle. It had to have been"
"What happened next?" Robert asked
"Oh, afterwards, it was great. I had her back. Only, things seemed different. She seemed different."
"How?"
"Distant, I guess. And there were things she would just come out with. Strange sayings as if, I dunno, she was talking to someone else.
"Maria, her mum, she just said that it was her just learning to cope with what she had been through, that she'd been through a lot and I should probably just give her some space."
"So?" Robert prompted
"So I did. I gave her her space. Let her do her thing. But things just got worse."
"How do you mean?"
"She would say things, I mean to me, crazy things about how things "should be", and how she was gonna "make things right", that it was her "destiny". I tell ya, that was when I felt I should do something."
"So what did you do?"
"I talked to her. Told her how it sounded, and that maybe she should talk to someone about what she was going through."
"You mean like a shrink?" Clayton asked
Alex looked at him with piercing eyes, as if he had just been disturbed from his sleep. But then, Robert stepped in and put him back on course
"Please, continue"
Alex took a deep breath and carried on. "I just knew that someone had to get through to her. But she wouldn't hear it. She cut me off, wouldn't talk to me anymore. Even got her parents to stop talking to me too. I'm sure she told them some story that they would believe, that would urge them not to talk to me. I mean, before, I was like a son to her parents, then they didn't want to know me."
"She changed." Robert summed up
"Like you wouldn't believe."
Alex sat back in his chair, defeated. "I didn't hear from her for months. Then one night, I just... I don't know how to explain it, I just felt I needed to see her, that it was really important. But when I called at her place she wasn't there. So I went to her brother's..."
He leaned forward as he contemplated what he was going to say. The truth he hadn't spoken about since the news died down.
"The door was open, and there he was. Dead. The room was a bloody mess. I... I should have called the police then I guess, but I wasn't thinking. I just went straight to her parents. And them too... cut up. The neighbours they were friend's with didn't report it cos, well she got them too. I called the authorities then. I knew she was the one who had done it, but I didn't dare tell them that. I didn't stick aro

With just enough haste Wisp pulled the ship into a steep climb and broke atmo. The sky darkened and Stars burst into the canopy as the clouds disapated. He took a quick glance over the sensors and pointed the ship in a direction towards Jiangyin, It was close enough to get there in a day or so yet far enough from the Core to avoid some hastle.
It had dirt, fuel, and doctoring for the bairn. With any luck they could get five minutes peace before the next adventure, and with a few key members of the resistance with them adventure could come at any time.
Hands appeared on each of Wisps shoulders bringing a reassuring squeeze.
"Your tense as a Father on date night, relax for god sakes" Vixens words were warm yet slightly out of character: empathy used to be a swear word to her.
"Whats got into you all of a sudden??" Wisp shot back in a humoured tone without turning around. Vixens hands clamped down causing Wisp to wince and turn his head to her.
"Need??" He spoke in a high pitched exagerated whine
"Gosa and giggles" she then turned and returned to her seat.
"Thats more like it"

OOC:
SO I've decided to cast Marc Blucas as Needy. Been rewatching Buffy episodes lately and he seems like the perfect candidate - he's got that sweet goody-two-shoes look most of the time, but as you can see from my user pic, he also can look quite a dark character. Which just fits perfectly.
I'm working on getting pics for all the characters so that I can post them all in a seperate Character thread (along with character desriptions and history)
Evangeline Lilly is still Kyra though

When the screaming had started, the brats had run straight to her, fear evident in their young faces. They had heard a lot of screaming in their young lives, by themselves, by other kids, by strangers. The only time they heard adults screaming though it usually meant they were going to be hurt soon.
It was another reminder of why she was going to kill Truth when he woke up. He was the one who should be dealing with the hysterical brats.
Looking over to see what was going on Spider paled. No way, dealing with the brats was one thing, she was not going to be explaining the birds and the bees to the brats, and newborns newborns were the worst type of brat.
Ok so her only real experience with newborns were her stepfathers children, and children of other street rats, but still.
Leading the two girls away she stumbled as the ship lurched, loosing her balance, and unconsiousness as her head hit the wall.
Shadow and Ghost watched thir guardian fall as the screams still echoed around them. Then they hid.
OOC: sorry this isn't so great. I kinda lost track of what was going on. I'll be better though.

Safe dropped heavily into the co-pilots chair next to Wisp. "Nice flyin' back there."
Wisp nodded absently, still trying to figue out how far he could trust Vixen or better yet what he was going to do about her or, for that matter, with her.
"For what it's worth, you'd have gone far if you had've stayed with the program." Safe said looking over the star charts and scanning for anyone following.
Wisp looked up abruptly, his eyes narrowing with suspicion, How did he know? "Learn't all I needed...."
Safe smiles wearily at Wisp. "Relax. I went through the same program. The skills were an obvious giveaway." Safe returns to looking over the charts. "I followed the program all the way through like a good soldier, commendations, my own command, and look what I got out of it... more scars than I can count, inside and out, no family and a price on my head. I got no place to judge you or your actions."
OOC: still working on the ISSCV layout.
Edit: Ok here it is including a rough floorplan. Let me know if it fits. i can make adjustments.

Very nice, but I don't think we have room for the dozen or so of us, do we?

Not for a long duration, no. But it was designed to drop 30 troopers not including the pilot, co-pilot and gunner. So it'll do in pinch.
It's not called a space bus for nothing

ooc - it's great! sorry for having to add in a separate room - i just wasn't doing it all with an audince, even in makebelieveland!
but yes - its what i thought, theres basically one larger area where everyone is and a few other spaces, but now that you've added in a shower room..."
Seryn returned from the wash room, keeping her eyes down as she walked through the main area, still a little awkward, extremely tired and very sore. She entered the lab and went over to the makesift bed that had been made up for the baby. He was sleeping, soft little breaths sounding regularly - he looked adorable, absolutely perfect, and she grinned - any other baby and she would have been recoiling in horror from his squished and reddened looks - wizened old features better suited to an octegenarian.
He opened his eyes and looked up at her - she was no expert but she would have sworn that was unusual, especially as he seemed to have no trouble at all focusing on her. He still hadn't made any noise - no cry's, nothing. She'd fed him, put him down and he'd been perfectly calm - it was crazy.
But he was absolutley healthy, Sykes had tried every test he could under their conditions, and apart from some elevated brain activity, he was perfectly normal. She smiled at him and trying to remember all of the things female relatives had yelled at her when she'd been introduced to various cousins, she carried him over to her bench and settled down, playing with his tiny hands, until the others came back.
Isn't sanity really a one trick pony, anyway? I mean all you get is one trick, rational thinking! But when you're good and crazy...ooh hoo hoo hoo... the skys the limit!
