Thanx Paddyfly for askin' one of the questions on my mind...

I saw a banner for Irish Browncoats that had Jayne on it,(although I've seen some argument that Jayne is Scottish) but I've always thought Kaylee was more Irish. Joss's homage to Scotty?

Also, Jaynestown very Irish! Downtrodden people singing dirges, working in a clay bog, drinking heavily? No, no Irish here!

Month & 1/2 to St. Paddys day-anybody want to help brew the green Mudder's milk?

Anybody got grand plans?

Yeah, we're pretty good at losing too. And making up songs about it. Guess it was an Irish guy singing the ballad of Serenity!

Seriously though, there's no Ireland out in the black, so unless there's a New Dublin or New Cork moon somewhere then I think we've been absorbed into other races. We have a tendancy to stick together, so I can see us having a colony somewhere, same way Badger was part of a tight-knit group that kept the London accent.

And yes, there should DEFINATELY be an Irish bar!

AH HA! I have found the Irish!

In the BDM, the guy with the fedora who says "stealing payroll isn't exactly soldiers work" and Mal says "we're all just folk now"....
is using an Irish accent! Then it cuts to the red headed woman with a distinctly Aryan child....

Yes, there are Irish in the 'verse, but unfortunately they've just been eaten, hopefully with some potatoes and a nice Irish Whiskey!

No they didn't get eaten...they did the eatin'. I imagine IrishBrowncoat has it...they were fightin' as Browncoats.
I think that having anyone of strictly one ethnicity by then would be a very rare thing. More likely most folks are of mixed heritage so it's probably more of what traditions folks keep, etc.
We know the music's still about as witnessed in Safe. I'm referring to the music that River was dancing to, that Joss dubbed on the FF soundtrack 'River's Dance.' *groan*

But no 'Danny Boy,' please, I beg of you. *shudders* How about 'Finnegan's Wake' instead?

You would think, as ubiquitous as the Irish are on Earth-That-Was, there'd be St. Patrick's Day parades and Irish pubs aplenty in the 'verse.

Maybe they were all (or mostly) wiped out on Shadow? That would be a typical Irish fate.

The family of Reynolds is Irish in origin. The early form of the name was McRaghnail, the Gaelic form being Raghnall, which is equivalent to the English names Randal and Reginald. All three of these names are believed to be derived from the Norse. The family name McRaghnail was eventually anglicized to Grannell and Reynolds, the latter being the most common.

The family is essentially Irish, having lived since early times in the southern part of the county of Leitrim, where they held lands until the end of the 17th century...

well if you consider current irish history, there are actually more Americans that claim Irish descent than there are people in Ireland, i myself being one of them, but at the same time, there are virtually zero people that are 100% Irish in America.
