Sorry, can't figure out what I did wrong, but it's first on the list (minutes ago, anyway) on their tv news page.

I can't f--cking believe this shit!! I'm not saying it's a direct ripoff, but still.

I can't help but think of the recent post about Firefly, about what if the network wanted to redo the show but with a different cast, and I just couldn't imagine it, and now to hear THIS...it feels like a sick joke, but a sick joke I can't help but be drawn to, no matter how horrible, because it's the closest we can possibly get to having the show back.

Sickening to say the least, that they woudl bastardize what we love. However, it is not surprising in the least. How many times have I been forced to watch Grey's Anatomy, only to find myself saying, "Hey, I remember an episode of ER (or St. Elsewhere, or Chicago Hope, or Trapper John MD, or MASH, etc.) where this happened." Things that work come back again and again. Right now I'd take any show not about doctors or lawyers. Except Scrubs. Don't mess with my Scrubs.

Now is the time to sell show ideas to networks, obviously.

Idea 1: Woman with 3 daughters marrying man with 3 sons (and a maid). Perhaps get Barry Williams to play the father.

Idea 2: A sailor, his skipper, a movie star, a married millionaire couple, "and the rest" to fill out a cast of 7 stranded on an island after a short tour. Make sure the millionaire loads up a suitcase of cash for the tour, and that the actress has a change of clothes for seven season's worth of comedy.

Idea 3: A -funny- P.O.W. camp set in WWII. An incompetent camp leader. Plenty of silly enemy officers. Each prisoner with his own accent, no duplicates!

Idea 4: Oh, I'm running out! Anyone want to take over? Great new show ideas, eh?

Mark my word: Hollywood has made remakes of so many -movies- it is only a matter of time for that trend to follow to TV en mass.

Remind me again why Firefly isn't on TV? I mean, if they have such a hard time to come up with new show ideas, that they make such a blunt rip-off, why not atleast TRY to get Firefly back? (:

The wounds are still fresh for me and probably will never completely heal, but I'm gonna do my best to lighten it up.

Say, 10 years from now and they're making a big screen BUFFY movie...without the regulars--or Joss's approval.

Can you just imagine the cheesy cast?

Buffy: Paris Hilton (bimbette extraordinaire)

Willow: Nicole Richie (with glasses and a red wig)

Xander: The dude who played Shaggy (a dork without the qualities that makes the character endearing)

Cordelia: Lindsey Lohan (cuz she was recently a bitch to Michelle Trachtenberg, according to some reports)

Giles: The new Bond dude (cuz he's the only middle-ageish European I can think of right now)

Angel: Freddie Prinze Jr (SMG's future ex and about the most disturbing casting choice for this character that I can think of)

Spike: Jude Law (cuz he's sexy, charming and a badass underneath)

Joyce: Blythe Danner (cameo only)

Tara: Tara Reid (cuz the producers wouldn't actually "get" Tara, they'd turn the relationship into something sleazy)

Oz: Seth Green (cuz he seems to like cheese)

Drusilla: Jennifer Love Hewitt (cuz she's got dark hair and is it really that hard to believe she could see things that aren't really there?)

So what, really?

Take out the "private" from detective, and it could be describing Angel, or Forever Knight.

Point being, if these guys are thieves, then Joss is, too.

No idea is original anymore. It all comes down to the execution.

"I thoroughly disapprove of duels. If a man should challenge me, I would take him kindly and forgivingly by the hand and lead him to a quiet place and kill him."

Sure, Joss "borrowed" some ideas and made them his own, and he freely admits it. No one is denying that, either. However, it doesn't matter in this case. There was something about ANGEL that people connected to, just like FIREFLY, and it was unfairly cancelled while most thought a sixth season was a sure thing. It left a lot of us feeling sucker-punched.

I didn't start this post to debate what's right or wrong about "borrowing" someone else's idea for a TV show. I started it because I love ANGEL, and because it's entire run and cancellation is personal for me.
