Greetings! This is the home thread on FFF.ner for the newly-formed 76th Independent Battalion. Our first official event will be the DragonCon parade in September of 2007.

Something to consider...we are NOT the entire marching presence of DragonCon...we represent a group of fans that have decided to get together, dress alike, and stick to rules and regulations we have created. You do NOT need to join us in order to march at DragonCon. Also, if you can't or won't stick to the rules and regulations, then the 76th may not be the right group for you.

We ARE NOT a re-enactment group, either. We are in this for the love of Firefly and as another way to spread the signal. We will NOT be recreating the battles of the Independents....sorry. Besides, what are we going to recreate...a few flashback scenes and some recollections around the dinner table? No, we are doing this for the enjoyment of creating a new section of the fandom.

The XO said it better than I did, so I'll use his words here:
Bottom line folks, we said in the beginning that we could not, and would not, please everyone. If you don't like the guidelines that are in place, don't join. March in the parade under the SEBC in whatever costume you want, but if you want to be a part of the 76th, you will follow the guidelines in place. That's the deal. Shiny?

There are strict rules and regulations that all members of the 76th must adhere to, so if there is anything in that link you will have issue with, it's best not to join.

Just as an addition to what Tristan's posted above.

As a costuming group, there will be rules about what we can and cannot wear. It isn't only the two people in charge who are deciding on these things. But please keep in mind that there are people who've been in the 76th from the beginning and some things about our costumes have already been decided upon. It isn't that we don't appreciate input or that we don't value other people's opinions.

This isn't the SCA or any other re-enactment group. All we are is a parade company. When we join, we're agreeing to gather together a costume according to the guidelines and march in a parade. Hopefully, we'll have fun doing it.

All the founders wanted to do was have a group of people all outfitted as Browncoats in a cohesive group in a parade. That is what they're assembling.

There isn't much more to this than that. Nothing complicated, nothing elaborate. Simple and to the point.
