Sorry to cause any addlepated-ness ; also didn't mean to ' highjack the thread ' . Had an opportunity to get more acquainted with NCBrowncoat , and it turns out that PDCharles also has roots at I*L*M* , so this Browncoat Banner operation is already making it easier to bring more Browncoats together !

Have to thank you CaptainJosh , because your work is helping to make us even more Mighty .

I'm continuing to gather source graphics for the I*L*M* banner , but I want to put that one on the ' back burner ' at the moment , at least until I get further along with a couple of banners in support of that ' Sponsor ' thing I was asking about .

Yep , here in the States , it's kind of a popular slang or shorthand to refer to cities by their airport identifiers .

Los Angeles is LAX , pronounced EL-LAY-ECKS , San Francisco (SFO) is ESS-EFF-OHH , Raleigh-Durham (RDU) is ARE-DEE-YOU , etc .

London Heathrow (LHR) would be ELL-AITCH-ARE , Charles DeGaulle Airport at Paris is CEE-DEE-JEE (CDG) , as European examples...

Might be a cool idea if more Browncoats would adopt this practice of giving their closest airport code to prevent confusion in their local region , because there are towns with the same or similar names all over the States . Then there's the London , England ( Londinium ) and the London in Ontario , Canada , etc...

Another example , we have towns in both North Carolina and South Carolina that are named Greenville , we have a
" Canton " here in N*C* , but there's a major city in Ohio by the same name .

There's a " Wilmington " in North Carolina , but there's another in Delaware , another in Ohio , one in California , etc...

But all the Airport ID codes are ' discrete ' or different , whether they are IATA ( Airline Transport ) or ICAO--
" International Civil Aviation Organization " .

Sorry about the hijack too. Eastern NC is a shiny part of the US that's overlooked a lot.

BTW Greenville NC (about 20 miles from here) is PDG for some crazy reason. And Wilmington, DE is WIL.

My first job out of college was at a travel agency and I had to memorize a lot of airport codes. I only lasted 8 months, then it was the nomadic military life (both active and as a spouse)and I've been settled here in "Little Washington" for the past 9 years.

The airport in Greenville , NC might've had its identifier changed in the years that have gone by...Officially , its code is
PGV--for Pitt-Green-Ville .

PDG is in Minangkabau , Indonesia ! It's an International airport , although I've never even heard of the place...Wonder how many Browncoats live along that Rim o' the 'Verse ?

check out the firefly fan club on deviantart.com there are some crazily good artists there that love firefly they will probably help if asked
