is it just me or in "trash" when River says one of her best quotes "Jayne's a girl's name" jayne repiles "If she starts with the girls name crap, i'll show her very well they i got man parts" simon just blows it of when JAYNE HAS JUST THREATNED TO RAPE HIS FRIGGN SISITER i just felt like pointing that out

I never took it to mean that Jayne was going to rape her, he was just going to show her his boy parts and wasn't even serious about that. It was an empty threat and Simon knew that.

I'm sure many of us, including Simon by his reaction, didn't take Jayne's words to mean 'rape'. Just that he was going to drop his pants and prove to her he had man parts.

As JLin said, it wasn't a threat of rape - it was just what it meant. And, it was pretty much an empty threat, because if Mal or the rest found out... tsk, tsk, Jayne.

I know I'm probably in the minority, but Jayne has always been my least favorite character on the show. However, I got the impression he respects women and rape would never have entered his mind with anyone, much less River.

I don't think he was going to rape her. I think it was just one of those odd moments where he didn't realize what he was saying till the last second.

I've always disliked Inara, and then Jayne, his pigheadedness.....Not to say the show would be the same without either of them its just like Ross on friends, no one really likes his character but if he were gone it just wouldn't be the same...
Anlyways I don't think he implied rape it was just merely Jayne being Jayne. (I just watched that episode last night) He just wants her to shut up and hoped to do so by threatening to drop his pants. Like Simon says hes being crude.
