Where's the Irish?

Right,I've been wanting to say this to someone for ages so here it goes.
Why are there no Irish characters in Firefly?Just about everyone else got into space;English,Chinese,Americans,Middle eastern dudes,the whole shebang.Yet the Irish didn't get into space?
We get everywhere!We're like rats fer crissakes!

The series was cancelled before we got to the Irish planet/moon.
What criteria are you using to identify the Irish 500 years from now?

well if our emigrant success rate is anything to go by then we did make it into the show. We were just so successful we weren't rubbing shoulders with scavengers like badger, we were running blue sun

well, badger's ethnicity is pretty dubious, he could be english, irish or any one of about three dozen other things, so there could be a presence there
