The part that bugs me is the "They just do not seem American or Patriotic to me." That is either said out if ignorance, or spite. If spite, then this person doesn't live up to the "Cartwright values" that is so often touted on the bonanzaworld board, despite the fact that their login name has all sorts of little achievement "medals".

I guess if you aren't a Bonanza fan, then you are unAmerican. Is that right, Senator McCarthy?

A lot of Bonanza fans are from outside of the U.S...

Then, unfortunately, I realized that I am not a teenager and haven't been for more than half a year. It was an almost out-of-body experience.

As for the unAmerican thing...even the thought that there is a person out there who defines something as American because it revolves around rich, white, landowners existing in a fantasy wild west created by B grade hollywood movies, and an historical denial of genocide, and some sort of warped nostalgia for a patriarchal society obesessed with manifest destiny makes my skin crawl. If thats what "American" is (which I assure you my definition is quite different)then I wouldn't want Firefly associated with it.

The first thing I thought when reading the reply from the Bonanza board, was that it was a joke. Let's just take it as a joke, and move on. An if it wasn't a joke, then it's not even worth spending time talking about.
