Well personally I don't find River sexy but yeah, the characters. They really are something.

Character I'd most like in my bunk is Simon. Character I'd most like to hang out with is Wash. Character I'd most like to be like is Zoe. I could soooo see myself having a girls night out with Kaylee, Inara, Zoe and River.

River fascinates me, always has. Joss has had his fair share of crazy characters over the year, but River is pure perfection. Absolutely brilliant.

I love the rest of the characters, too, but those four are the ones I'm a groupie for.

Yes, I love River. She would make a beautiful daughter but then I already have 2 so I shouldn't be greedy. Summer Glau brought something extraordinary to that part.

There is a parallel from the early days of silent films.

Louise Brooks was a dancer (Follies, not ballet though) who moved into acting and in Pandora's Box also brought something extraordinary to the screen.

Perhaps it is the grace of a dancer, or perhaps because they are not actors first and so just put lay themselves bare on the screen - I dont' know because I have never wanted to act. All I know is this ain't just a movie/TV series - it is so much more and River was an important part of that. And Pandora's Box was not 'just' a silent German film about the rise and fall of someone's mistress, and that was largely down to Louise Brooks.
