Gotta swing with the "Isolated Weirdo" theory, or possibly the "Just having a bad day" camp. Maybe some combination of the two.

And just for the record, I'm both a first-generation Trekkie ("Trekker" was always too PC for me) and a died-in-the-wool Browncoat, and proud to be both. If Firefly is the Anti-Trek, it's in response to what the later series degenerated into, not what it was created to be. Watch the original series sometime. Any universe that has Harry Mudd and Cyrano Jones in it is one in which Mal & Company could thrive.

(Heh. Just noticed; the spellcheck on the response page recognizes both "Trekkie" and "Trekker" as real words, but underlined "Browncoat" for spelling. On a Firefly website. Ain't that a larf?)

Joss has been writing the Astonishing X-men comic books and a lot of X-men fans had been worried...
but I think he has won them all over now.

That's OK. I stopped watching X-Files after season 8 (no David Duchovny and very little Gillian Anderson) so I thought maybe Joss had slipped in while I wasn't watching and wrote an episode or directed one. That just comepletely called into question my status as a philey. I may have to turn in my badge.

In that lady's strange world where people are mean to people because they watch other shows, I'll have to be careful of all those lost fans. Those lost fans might see my Serenity sticker I wished I had and steal my vitamin C and make me press buttons.

I'm a Democrat(male though), and based on what I saw in Firefly, I saw Mal as a Republican that was, the majority of Republicans in power today, are more like business men than politicians. But, I'm getting into things better suited for the RWED threads.

Also, I find it odd that Joss as a staunch Democrat himself would purposefully write a story about Republican propaganda.
