Lit? yes. Math? Double shudder*
However, I am really interested in astrophysics, astronomy, particle physics, chaos theory...
but most of what I try to read goes right over my head.
As per usually, coffee is the answer. Never mind the #3, or linoleum.

Thanks for the e-mail, and (I am sure others have said it) want to re-iterate that your husband is a lucky man.
JQ - I forgot to mention this in the opening post, but I never realized that a) You work for a university, and b) You are a physicist. Excellent on both counts. Physics is my favorite subject after math, all aspects of it.
I was very glad to see that I am not the only one on here who likes math. :)

I do not like math per say...its just easy for me. Drives Laurelin a little buggy sometimes as I rattle off numbers and such. She has number issues. she flipps them around and backwards and stuff. Good fun to pick on her with it too!

Mavs, I'm with you. Have you read The Elegant Universe: Superstrings, Hidden Dimensions, and the Quest for the Ultimate Theory? I saw the PBS show on it, and I was mesmerized.

Hi Everyone! Riv, Peng, Verse, Mav, Kel.
At first glance, if you squint, jπ+1 looks like jimi, which is just plain cool. But that's just my skewed perception.
Now before you get all genuflecty about my status as a physicist at a major university, I'm not. Here are the facts.
1. I am employed by the University of Michigan, true, but in the Registrar's Office where my nominal duty is to ensure the correction tuition is charged to the students.
2. My true function is expert in waiting regarding all matters where the academic rules and regulations of the schools and colleges comprising the university intersect with the computer systems. The Registrar calls me the great and mighty Oz.
3. What I am after you strip away all the pretense with which I surround myself (professionally) is a Super end user who has more knowledge than he can use and just enough knowledge to really f
k up an IT's day/week. An adverse side effect of being completely self-trained and even worse: a system tester (Okay see if you can break this. What are you kidding? That's like candy to me!)
I am a physicist only in the same way I am a historian or a psychologist. I am a student of the cosmos. I am a student of civilization. I am a student of the psyche. I live in this world and I mean to know what that means. The world isn't my oyster, it's my petri dish. The fact that the subatomic particles that make up what we consider reality is really only a statistical probability study, that math is truly the foundation of all we know and don't know, pleases me to no end.
My disdain of academic degrees is no excuse for ignorance. In fact, it is what drives me onward to find and know the truths.
