First I'll apologize if this sounds corny but does anyone listen to the kind of music that resembles #23 River's Dance?
I'm thinking it's more of a celtic theme and I really enjoy it.
So my question is this, if anyone knows of other bands or compilations with similar music I'd love some advice on what to run out and get.
That is all, thank you and please drive thru.

Well I'm surprised that someone hasn't jumped on this yet, so I have a short answer. Yes there is similar stuff. I don't know if you've seen "Done the Impossible" but if you have, you would be somewhat familiar with the Bedlam Bards and Emerald Rose. I've been eying the DTI soundtrack for sometime, but I don't own it and therefore, cannot comment on how closely it resembles River's Dance. I do remember the Bedlam Bards speaking about it in DTI though, so that's a start.
The link for the soundtrack is:

Rivers Dance is realy one of the only UN-original songs on the sound track...Its an old ditty called "The Sailors Wife"
"Smellin' alot of IF comin' offa' this plan!"

If you're still looking for similar music, I'd suggest the band Solas. Their jig and reel medleys especially.
MAL "You only gotta scare him."
JAYNE "Pain is scary..."

I think River's Dance was an old song that they tweaked a little, but I can't remember the name.
I did mention the part where the engine overheats and we all die, right? Don't think I woulda left somethin' like that out.

For instrumental jigs and reels, strathspeys and mazurkas and the like you won't go wrong with:
-Seolas
-Lunasa
-Kevin Burke
If you want to throw in some lyrics in Irish Gaelic:
-Kila
-Altan
Irish music with english lyrics:
-Planxty if you want to go old school
-Mick Moloney
-Cherish the Ladies
I'm more into the Scottish side of celtic music. For that I'd suggest:
-Old Blind Dogs
-Silly Wizard
-Tannahill Weavers
-the Corries
-Andy M. Stewart (formerly of Silly Wizard)
For celtic based rock:
frae the 70's:
-Fairport Convention
-Steeleye Span
More recent:
-Levellers
-Black 47
-Emerald Rose
This is not meant to be an exhaustive list, but it would make a d@mned fine cd collection.

You will also have very good luck with comilations from the major celtic record companies. Look for Green Linnet and Narada. Hopefully the store has a listening station so you can get a feel for the songs and decide if you like it. I was in a Barnes and nobles that had their listening station computerized so it could pull up samples of things that weren't even in the store. you could order the ones you like that way.

As my man said , jigs and reels !
Check out Gaelic Storm , they were a band playin' aboard Jim Cameron's little film ,
" Titanic " . Also , you owe it to yourself to check out " Celtic Woman " . They must all be Browncoats , 'cause they are so very pretty .
Not Irish , but an incredible talent in her own right , Connie Dover . Also , very pretty !
Keep the Faith . Share the Love . Feel the Joy !
