Hi,
I know lately Fox and Universal have been cracking down on folks using Firefly/Serenity related images on things they're selling on places like Cafe Press and bluesunshirts.com. Has anyone been contacted regarding the use of images that are not utilized on sale goods? Like regional browncoat group logos? I ask this because I am working on designing a logo for the new Western New York Browncoats group. The logo I have worked out contains the browncoat flag design as well as an image of Serenity (the ship, not the logo). When I presented it to leader of the group, she loved it but feared retribution from Fox/Universal because of their recent crackdowns. Have any of the regional browncoat groups had any contact by the studios regarding their groups logos?

I haven't heard anything, but I wouldn't think it would be a problem because you're not selling anything. I think the problem came from making a profit from Fox/Universal property.

I'd think logos are fine, for the exact reason that SweetSerendipity said. You aren't going to be selling these logos and making a profit.
