I've had a few people asking me about what SteamedBao3 and I did for our Mal and Kaylee costumes.

I guess you'd have to ask him, but I know that ebay and a hot glue gun were involved...also, my trashcan is stained "browncoat" forever and ever (amen).

As for my Kaylee costume, it was easy. I got the coveralls at Walmart and cut off the sleeves. I got the flower and heart patches there too. I smeared it on a car engine for that "lived in, worked in" look. As for the wacky shirts she's been known to wear, I got that at a secondhand store here called Gabriel Brothers. I'm still looking for a necklace.

I know that's not very exciting, considering I didn't really have to make anything.

OK, OK....ask SteamedBao3 about his! Where's my pineapple, I'm going to my room! ha ha ha

I'll post pics of us in costume after Balticon

I heard someone wanted to know how I made my Mal costume.

Jacket- 1 tan trench coat, 3 boxes of Dark Brown Rit Dye,

Jacket clasps- I am into Warhammer so I used the large circular gaming bases from that game and hot glued them on the jacket.

Pants- Khaki pants, dark blue strips of fabric for the legs and hot glue

The gun holster I had to order from Ebay but you can get a decent price on one. look under Western Gun Holsters.

Any specific question about specifics I can address one at a time since I don't even really remember what I did in my frenzied creativity.

God created Mudder's Milk so the Independence wouldn't take over the 'verse.

I, myself, went to my aunt for most of the doing. She made the coat and belt out of materials from some fabric store. Took her all of about an hour. (She's a GREAT seamstress, by the way.)

Then I just took some kahkis and did the same as SteamedBao.

A normal dress shirt and suspenders.

For the finishing touches, I got a nice replica of an old western gun and some really ugly boots that just DIDN'T work with the costume. They were the best I could find though.

I've got pictures of me and my sister (as Kaylee) if anyone wants them. I don't have a site to put them on and I wouldn't know how to put them on the board.
