Do I have that right? Beta readers? If I don't, then let me rephrase: I'm writing fanfic for the first time in my life, and I'm terrified about posting (I've never let anyone read my stuff before, so I really am terrified here) and would like someone to read my stuff over for me, give me opinions, help me edit, that kind of thing. Am I in the right place to post this?

Hey, try not to worry about it so much...post your story as is, then listen to whatever constructive criticism you get. It's a learning experience and we all understand that. Read some other fanfics posted hereabouts for example....but most importantly, remember everybody here loves these people, these stories, and this 'verse. It's always great to read another take on this thing we love and to know so many people out there (people just like you) have been so touched by it they HAVE to become part of it. Looking forward to reading your piece, and I bet I'm not the only one.

Hey - been there with the terrified thing! People are very nice here, don't worry.

But definitely do use the beta reader! Betas are priceless!
