I knew George Lucas was th Grand Marshall of the Rose Parade this year but he really outdid himself.

The first thing was a magnificant float of the Eok forest, then the Grambling University marching band dressed in Imperial Officer uniforms, the 501st, about 150-200 of them and then another float.

Maybe one day the 75th Independent Brigade will rival the 501st.

Whoa! that is a LOT of Star Wars Fans!!! Its amazing how big a fanbase can become! Especially a good one

So you can listen to Bob Eubanks say that the 501st members are "groupies" and "need to get a job". Being a member of the 501st myself, I was pretty offended. Especially since a member of my Garrison flew out to CA for the SIX DAY REHEARSAL for the parade, and missed his Christmas holiday with his family, just to get ridiculed on national tv. Lame.

Look for a small group of us in the Mummers parade this Saturday on tv (postponed from yesterday because of rain). Hopefully the commentators for that will be civil.

My thoughts as well.

People who know who scored the winning goal in the 1976 FA Cup Final are seen as "experts" or "fans". While people who know the registration of the Enterprise (what?) are seen as "geeks" or "nerds".

(Yeah, I really fail to understand that kind of cheap shot. Would I spend hundreds of hours and dollars making my own stormtroopers uniform? And spend six days away from home during the Christmas season practicing marching inside one? Of course I wouldn't. Dressing up in a military uniform and marching in a parade isn't my kind of thing, but for those who can and do, more power to them. I know anyone who did would have to be more creative, and more physically fit, than 99% of the people you meet -- including those who get put behind a microphone to say inane things about a parade. Let's see Bob Eubanks do it before he insults them.)

While I did not get to watch the 501st in action, I did hear about it...and I am really unhappy with Bob Eubanks' comment. Idiot.

Now, to the 76th one day leading the parade with Joss as the Grand Marshall? Yeah, I can see that happening. We are growing daily, and will one day be truly mighty!

Until then, I again come to the defense of the 501st and call Bob an idiot. It's just fun to say that. Bob is an idiot.
