OOC: Let's crank this puppy up again! In the interest of time I'd like to take it as read that we have all assembled in the cargo bay. All except one...
Mal's Move:
[Having rounded everyone up from the infirmary/common area/engine room, MAL enters the cargo bay. He sees THORNE and RIVER playing patty-cake. "Well, at least the old man has her smiling." he thinks. SLIGHT is sitting on the catwalk, finishing his smoke. SIMON and BOOK roll DAMON in on a gurney. INARA and KAYLEE follow. ZOE and WASH are entering from the crew quarters. MAL notices the tequila smell is still strong, and then realizes it's coming from JAYNE, who stands unsteadily by the wall. The cargo bay is otherwise spotless. That ROWAN girl did a good job.]
MAL:"That ROWAN girl did a good job. Comes to cleanin' she jen duh sh tyen tsai. Where's she at, anyway?
[He is answered by a groan from outside, beyond the ramp]
EOM.
Jen duh sh tyen tsai: Really is a genius.

Rowan's Move:
Location: Outside Serenity.
The ship is spinning. No, make that the planet is spinning, since she realizes she's sitting on her butt in damp red clay - covered in the stuff too - under orange sunlight.
ROWAN (muttering): Wu de tien ah - forgot what kinda punch that stuff has.
Putting a hand to the right side of her head, she hisses at a sharp pain and takes her hand away to see blood on her palm. Staring at it brings it all back.

FLASHBACK
---------------------------------------
Jayne’s Move:
Location: Cargo Bay
After watching Rowan waver a bit, surveying a trim, nicely curved body in snug-fitting black, he reaches the quick conclusion that wherever Niska is, he can just hunker on down and stay there for awhile.
JAYNE: You gone and got yerself good an’ blended - any more where that came from?
EOM
Rowan’s Move:
Location: Cargo Bay
With a little grin loaded with mischief, Rowan turns to get the bottle she had cracked open and hands it over. She watches him sniff first, then take a long swig, but it’s the deep-throated growl of appreciation that gets to her. The curiosity about how that awfully fine hooch would taste on him turns fierce and ultimately irresistible. Leaning into him is easy and feels all manner of luxurious. Jayne is every bit as solid as he looks and doesn’t need anything in the way of coaxing. The same idea seems to have lodged into his brain too, judging from the lascivious grin he gives her right before she moves up on tiptoe, sliding up his body to find a little satisfaction. His mouth is engaging, the kiss steamy and downright tasty, promising a dark, basic kind of pleasure that makes her nerve-endings tingle in anticipation.
Then she hears something - like someone taking a hard and ungraceful fall. Turning from the kiss, she lets Jayne nuzzle her ear as she peers through cracked eyelids to see that the hatchway door in the ramp standing wide open. Come to think of it, she had gotten it open to toss out the broken glass and dump her wash water. But didn’t she close it again?
JAYNE (after another long slug of Tequila): Ain’t had a bit of tasty like you in a good long time.
He’s doing his best to keep her attention - and a fine job of it too. Jayne isn’t one to disappoint when it comes down to it. For all his gruff exterior, and unsavory manners he certainly does know how to push a girl’s buttons. Wouldn’t be anything to just let one thing lead to another - no emotional investment, no deeper intentions, no regrets. Only liberation.
But why is that gorram door open?
ROWAN to Jayne: Be right back.
JAYNE (groggy): You oughta know better’n t’get a fella revved up - there’s a word for that.
She nips his bottom lip playfully before she leaves him swaying near the rear catwalk stairs, shifting the broomstick under her arm as she makes her way back to the door. Standing in orange sunlight, she holds a hand up to shade her eyes and spots a solitary figure moving away from the ship.
ROWAN to herself: NISKA - has to be. And we let him get by - Gorram it!
EOM
OOC: That’s all I can do for now - I’m off work here in about 10 minutes, and I have a fight sequence to write.

Rowan's Move - SUPPLEMENTAL
Location: Ramp hatchway which is standing open. Niska is outside and on the move.
---------------------------------------
Niska's Move:
He listens for a moment and moves off at an angle from Serenity into a small canyon.
In minutes, NISKA navigates a few blind curves in a slow walk as he assesses his options.
Lost in thought, NISKA is startled when he is suddenly aware of someone behind him. Cursing himself for a fool, he begins to turn. Midway through the turn, a hard tap on his right scapula nearly makes him grunt in pain.
Standing behind him is ROWAN, holding a broomstick with the brush end removed. She wields it like a bo staff, one end supported in her right armpit and the other tip returning in an arc from her forceful tap on NISKAs shoulder. She stops the improvised staff with the barest waver.
Time seems to stand still as NISKA and ROWAN scrutinize each other...
---------------------------------------
ROWAN to herself: lāshî - he's an old man. This shouldn't take much at all. Can't hardly even see what all the fuss was about.
With the intent to render him unconscious so she can call for some help to haul him in, she swings the broomstick completely around, gaining momentum to strike. Aiming for his head, she swings in, only to be thwarted. Niska only raises one arm at the elbow, not fighting so much as defending, with his feet set solidly shoulder-width and he knows how to use his weight, shifting it into the blow to stop it. He turns the broomstick downward and nearly gets a grip on it. Rowan twists away just in time, spinning to drop down into a first defense stance. Odd how it comes back - she hasn't had any manner of training or practice with the bo since, well, since before the fall. Granted, the tequila has made her footing a little uncertain - but she's still younger and stronger.
She tries again, this time from the left only to be thwarted again. His moves are structured, like he's practiced some art of his own, but slow, showing his years. His arm moves up the same way as the first and he twists his wrist around the broomstick. This time he gets a solid grip, following it up with a forward strike with the heel of his hand that catches the bridge of her nose. Dropping backward as an entire star field forms in front of her eyes, Rowan hears a snap and looks up just in time to see the little man advance, an evil sneer on his face, wielding the two halves of her broomstick.
NISKA: Tell me, my dear. Have you ever truly met yourself?
ROWAN (eyes narrowing): I did once. You better hope you never meet her. She'd kick your pruney little ass.
---------------------------------------
PRESENT
---------------------------------------
Rowan can remember Niska's sickly-sweet smile just before he raised a hand and she saw the sharp end of one of the broken broomsticks slam down. He didn't hit her too hard, but he did it more than once and gleefully at that. Like he knew it hurt like hell and was enjoying it thoroughly. The last thing she can remember is his rasply laughter as the black closed in.
Wondering how many times he drew blood and how deep, she gets unsteadily to her feet and turns to trudge back to Serenity. Reaching up, she takes the hand hold and lets out a groan as she pulls herself up and into the cargo bay. Moving first to collect her sandals, which she left behind in pursuit of the little psychopath, she takes them both in one hand and starts across the bay, only to stop short when she looks up to see everyone else staring back at her.
Realizing she must look a sight, she raises a hand back to her brow to check the bleeding.
ROWAN (acerbicly): What? I got somethin' in my hair?

Damon's turn:
LOCATION - CARGO BAY
Damon's conversation with the shepard is interrupted when the captain sticks his head in the infirmery.
Mal: "Doc, Shepard, lets get everyone into the cargo bay for a chat. Bring the boy along too."
Mal turns to leave but Simon catches him in time to raise his professional opinion. "Captain, Damon has already been moving around too much. I don't think he should be going anywhere in his condition."
"Then put him on a gorram gurney and wheel him. It ain't like it's a five mile journey."
Damon gets to his feet and pulls his shirt back over his wounds. "I'll walk."
Simon turns back to Damon. "No, you won't. Your body needs rest. Book, help me with this gurney."
"I feel fine," he steps toward his bag, using the wall for support. He wonders if he could get away with having a gun in his holster.
"You feel fine because the drugs have kicked in." Simon steps in front of Damon and gently steers him toward the gurney.
Damon glares at the doctor and opens his mouth to protest, but Book steps up and addresses Damon. "The cargo bay is just in the next room, son, and I think you could use some rest."
Damon looks at Book, weighing his words. Their eyes remain locked in a moment of silence until Damon turns and lies down on the gurney.
OOC: Hope y'all don't mind me writn' some lines for our capn and doc. Just thought I'd do a quick job fillin' in the gap. I'm open for corrections/suggestions if anyone has a better idea for that scene.
Now back to the RP:
As soon as they come to a stop in the cargo bay, Damon sits up on the edge of the stretcher and looks around. There are at least a dozen people in the large room, the same faces he had seen in the common room upstairs. The tequila and broken glass has been cleaned up, though there was still a strong smell of alcohol in the air.
Mal:"That Rowan girl did a good job. Comes to cleanin' she jen duh sh tyen tsai. Where's she at, anyway?"
The only reply is a groan from outside. Damon looks over to see Rowan move slowly up the ramp and pick up her sandels from the metal floor. She stops when she sees everyone watching her and holds her bleeding brow.
"What? I got somethin' in my hair?"
Damon smiles at her remark, absently rubbing his wrist.
I'm not broken, in my dream I win...

Quote:SIMON
Rowan moves slowly up the ramp and picks up her sandals from the metal floor. She stops when she sees everyone watching her and holds her bleeding brow.
"What? I got somethin' in my hair?"
barely stifling a smirk and shaking his head in mock frustration SIMON moves quickly to ROWANs side.
"Luckily, here on Serenity {SIMON chuckles softly} I have learned to carry an EM-Pak with me at all TIMES."
SIMON begins to examine ROWANs injuries with a bright penlight.

Jayne's Turn:
Jayne tries to stand and the room starts to spin. Jayne thinks to himself that he hasn't had that kind of quick blackout in a long time.
"Now I remember why I quit drinkin that gorram stuff. Tequila ain't my friend, hell it ain't many things that are..."
Jayne shakes his head, trying to clear the ringing and fuzziness. A quick smile plays at the corners of his mouth as he remember his last few moments before turning the bottle upside down. The warmth and playful teasing that new girl started was something he was going to HAVE to finish.
"Hmmm, think I best get to findin' out her name 'afore I git my foot to ruttin' deep in it..."
Jaynes turns as he hears people starting to enter the cargo bay and begins to make his way out from behind the crates.
The Hero of Canton, the man they call... Meeeeee!

Kaylee's Move
Location: Cargo Bay
After Inara came down to the engine room to fetch her, Kaylee joins the rest of the crew in the cargo bay. Warily, she gives Simon a wide berth as he and Book wheel in that Damon fella.
Keeping quiet, she slides down to the deck between two boxes, trying to make herself as small as possible.
She watches as Simon moves up to check on Rowan, who looks to have been beaten up pretty badly. He appears to be the same Simon as always, competent and resigned to treating all manner of injuries here on Serenity.
With a small sigh, Kaylee lays her head on her knees, listening to the conversation flow around her.
End Move

[As MAL also approaches ROWAN, ZOE draws her Winchester, steps toward the ramp, and gives the immediately visible area a once over as she waits for ROWAN's answer.]
End Move.
