Cantr II is a great roleplaying/society simulator game. You, the player, play characters of your own creation in a world where the cultures, societies, governments, religions, etc... are created/destroyed by characters role played by you or other players. The game is free to join and play.

The game has been running for over 2 years. The staff is great (me being a staff member) and play characters in this world just like everyone else.

To learn more about Cantr II or to even begin playing go to www.cantr.net or go to the official Cantr II Forum at www.cantr.net/forum.

Oh, and play Cantr II at www.cantr.net.

And if the free part doesn't get you over there then maybe the fact that creator has close to the same first name as the creator of our beloved show here. The only difference is that he doesn't spell his name with two S's.

Hey, I took a look at Cantr, it's not much different from what I'm planning for the Firefly Universe thing for RP. Maybe a bit more open.

Take a stop by the forum. We're very open down there and some of the other staff members might be able to give you tips such as the programming staff as to how to go about building a game like this.

And they are always looking for programming staff too. We have recently lost a great programmer due to the nature of his career and not having the time to work on Cantr anymore. So I would think that they could some help in the programming department since they have some very ambitious projects planned for the future. It also might help you when you go about building your game later.

Interesting game. I just got started yesterday. So I take it from the "Capital Rule" that I shouldn't discuss any specifics until at least 4 days after the events occured.. and because of that, I'll just say that I'm just liking the game so far.

That would be the current clarification of the Capital Rule.

But if you want to talk about Cantr, put in your suggestions for the game, or get support on how to play the game then you look at www.cantr.net/forum for the Official Cantr II Forum.

Not that talking about it here is all that bad or anything but on the Official Cantr II Forum you will have more access to other players, experienced players, and even staff members (like myself) who can discuss things and help you if you need any.

To generate some interest, I will name and describe some of my characters that I have in game. Just keep in mind the Capital Rule should you decide to play.

Sester Gartaf - General of the Imperial Guard of the Alexian Empire. Brutal and violent man who has held his position as general since the late Emperor Alexi Romanov died. Has led countless campaigns against rebels and foreign foes alike and has a vision of what the Empire should be. He believes that he is bringing the light of civilization onto the barbarians outside the realm of the Alexian Empire. Currently wages war against Alenz Hills and DoUrden Estates.

Zak DoUrden - Was the founder and leader of DoUrden Estates and the DoUrden Mercenary Company. He was a theif and a cuthroat who had grand dreams of glory. He met his end in Ladvicitavoi at the hands of Emperor Alexi Romanov after the two got into a dispute.

Easle Quathak - His dreams were simple one. Live a quiet life committed to building a library in Quillanoi. In his early years, he wrote newspaper articles for the Russell News, who's owner Jonathan Russell became Easle's best friend. Over time, Easle became increasingly interested in Quillanoi's politics. Then came the time of Richard Cromwell. Along with a prominient businessman in Quillanoi, Richard Cromwell was able to overthrow the Quillanoi democratic government. Easle involved himself in the resistance and was in the fighting that ended Cromwell's rule. In fact, it was Easle's sword that killed Cromwell. After that he joined Russell's political party Quillanoi Citizens for Freedom and Safety where he first served as Chairman of the Quillanoi City Council for two terms and then he was elected President of the Quillanoi Government where he tried to build foreign relationships with both Siom and Brunoi. During his term, a petty criminal was able to take the town hostage as well as was able to kill a respected citizen before finally being captured. Easle resigned from his office blaming what had happened on himself and left Quillanoi. From that point on, Easle was declared a criminal by Siom who sent Siom Sheriff Deputies to hunt him down. They finally caught up to Easle in Brunoi but Brunoi protected him from Siom. Easle left Brunoi and came to live in the faraway democractic city of Tircqi where he tries to build a library again.

rklenseth is a 'ho. he promotes Firefly on the cantr boards even more than he promotes cantr on the firefly boards. But seriously. As a result of his endless proselytizing, he has converted me to a Browncoat, so he's not spectacularly inept. I gotta agree with him, though: cantr is the single coolest computer game I've ever played. Including Halo, but barely. I'm more or less addicted to it. I'm not gonna post too too many of my characters here to 'generate interest', as rkl does, but in the past year I've had:

A man who fell in love with an amnesiac girl with whom he sailed the sea. She died and he's spent the past 5 years sailing and building ever-larger boats to explore and--just maybe--find his Guinevere again.

A scoundrel who resigned his commission in the Army to lead his ragtag Forest into independence...he's subverted 2 plots to take over the forest, brought about the downfall of the Empire for which he once worked, and helped craft new governments for the old Imperial center and the Forest. Actually resembles Malcolm Reynolds in a few respects, except slightly better with the ladies.

A worker who was thrust into a position in the Big Leagues when his boss, former Emperor of Krif and respected/feared businessman Maynard Leeward was assassinated. Now currently trying to rebuild the business, maintain an outward show of respectability, and try not to get killed by the people who assassinated his boss.

Yeah. Enough of that. Point is, it's incredibly open-ended...every action helps create the context of the world. There are no NPCs, no history save that remembered by the characters. Events of a real-life year ago are venerated as history by those in cantr, and it's an amazing experience to be a part of. Screw real life, move to cantr. I'm serious.

Actually I was fired. From a fry-cook opportunity.
