If you go back and look, you'll see that the weird stuff came from PirateNews (and the response to his post). He's a special case here in the RWED and, if you stick around for a while, you'll find that there are usually at least two conversations going on in any given thread: some back and forth around the topic and PirateNews' take on the topic. I find it helpful to not mix up the two too much.

There are lots of people that completely ignore the Jesus aspect of Christmas. In fact, there is at least one culture (German) that has a name for this holiday season that has nothing to do with Christianity at all i.e. reality is not necessarily your opinion.

I like Jesus. I could care less if he was divine or not. He did a lot of good things. He showed people what it ment to do good things. I will celebrate a really nice guy's birthday in any manor I want. I don't need anybody telling me I am a hypocrite.
