Mal's suspenders, do y'all like the thin ones from FF, or the more 3-D-like ones from Serenity?

I think the ones form BDM are made out of rubber or something... I like those ones the best!

Mal: What does that make us?
Zoe: Big Damn Heroes Sir!
Mal: Ain’t we just!

Hehe, I agree with this, I think its safe to say that pretty much everyone here is a "geek", so we wouldn't really be bothered by them...and I do have to wear suspenders for band...
But, yeah, I would have to say that I perfer the ones from the series. They just seem to fit the western portion of it better, and that's really the part that makes Firefly/Serenity different from other sci-fi shows.

I think I like the originals better, mostly because of the comments exchanged between Mal and Inara:

Inara: I understand if you need to go prepare for that "It's 10 in the morning" issue.

Mal: Yeah. Better go do that. 'Cause I think this
is more of an evening look.

And, at some point, he snaps the suspenders. So, yeah, I like the originals, just because of the history, and... because I don't remember what the movie ones look like.

I am a big fan of the ones from the series...even built myself a pair to go along with the Mal costume! I thought the ones in the movie resembled a fan belt from a car...

I vote for the FF Suspenders too, they look much better with the western theme. I didn't notice the change in the shirt, I think I'll go pop in Serenity right now!

Yay! I'm glad the fanbase hasn't blacklisted me for thinking Mal's Spenders o' the Future overdesigned and cheesy....

I fell in love with Mal's canvass suspenders... The way they widened at the shoulders, the little cross piece in the back, the texture of the fabric. IIRC, they were WWII suspenders, and that kind of history - a soldier's suspenders - just was another way Mal's costume spoke of his character.

I liked his thin leather ones, too. For when he was going all... incognito.

Hated the rubber movie ones. Hated all the little rubber appliques in his costume, especially the ones on his pants. I could accept the one on the coat, if I write it off as a mend. The shirts were ok, though I still prefer the simplicity of the buttons.

But all that rubber...when he walks away from Simon at the end of the one-er, he squeaks!

Really? I had a bigger problem with the modifications they made to his coat. What was up with the crap on the shoulder?

Well I really liked the movie and all, but those suspenders just killed it for me. What was Joss thinking!?! First Book, then Wash - did he have to kill the suspenders too?!? Is nothing sacred? Oh well, at least he didn't make the mule look more or less like a VW Thing.

Then again...maybe he did?
