Speaking of superhero movies, Daredevil was way better than Superman Returns!

Actually, Ben and Jen 2.0 didn't get together untill he shot his cameo in Elektra. At the time of DD, she was still with Michael Vartan (also from Alias), and I think he had just started seeing Cartman's left hand.
Not that I care. I just had to post that for the quip at the end.
But the DC of Daredevil is pretty damned good, much better than the theatrical. I still enjoyed Superman Returns a lot, though.

I'm not a fan of superhero movies in general (except for Xmen), and Daredevil bored me to tears. The only thing that kept me from falling asleep was watching Sydney Bristow (sorry!) kick butt.

(fix the underoos collar his cape tucks into, put the yellow 'S' on the back of a not-rubber-looking cape, wash his suit in colour-safe clorox to bring up the brightness, trim down the beating scene, and I'd put it even with DD)

Whereas I'd put DD(DC) and SR about equally, though they are very, very different films for being inb the same genre. I'd give them both about a 3 out of 4 as well.
I'd put FF at more of a 1.5 or 2.
And just for clarity, hthe superhero movies I'd rank as a full-on 4 are Batman Begins, X2 and Spidey-2.

I thought MCD's Kingpin was great, even if it wasn't a direct translation of the character from the comics. And unless I'm mistaken, the DD character in the movie isn't a direct translation of the character from the comics either, is he?

As yet I haven't seen the new Superman, basically because I've always found the character difficult to engage with. I mean he is INVINCIBLE! There is no drama. Ultimately that always permeates any supposed danger that may loom.
The one time I liked Superman was when he had that fight with his bad self in Superman three. That was quality.
Now DareDevil - One of my favourite characters from the comics of that kind so I was looking forward to this. But for me this film fails on so many levels, but where it doesn't work is in the unnecessary short-hand within the genre that has reduced comic action films to simplistic outlandish action set pieces with no sense whatsoever. There has to be some sort of grounding, or engagment with the reality we have in order to then begin to feel for that character and those extraordinary predicaments. Frankly the whole premise becomes as pointless as the inevitable leather suited costumes all these guys prance around in.
Top that with Ben Afflecks 'persona' and the whole film becomes a quick gulp of some tasteless food you feel compelled to eat so as not to embarrass the host.
I know this looks harsh but I generally feel the comic genre has been handed over to a bunch of film hacks who just want to throw some flashy visuals at us.
Enough now. Can we please have some care, time and love put into this format.

I wasn't too impressed w/ DD at first. Then I re-watched it later on, and I was still unimpressed, but not as much as before. If DD is better than SR, then I've saved $ and time by not watching the latter. Besides, it's just a remake, more or less, of the Christopher Reeve movie. Even though I like Kevin Spacey, I skip this version.

Big old-time DD fan here, and apart from Kingpin's lack of superior strength, and DD's neck being exposed, I thought it was about as good as a movie on the subject could be (plus, my friend is in a fight scene, heh heh). It was a little like Serenity in that a whole lot was stuffed into a little space.
And I get what you said about throwing flashy visuals, I just saw (read into-?) more there than you did, S.
