Has any one here seen the anime OAV "Outlaw Star"? It draws a few parallels to FireFly, such as; Thier are only two superpowers left; the space forces (the U.S.) and the Pirate Guilds (China), The main charaters run a "business" in which they take on various legal or illegal in order to ,to barrow a term, "keep flying", Plus thier's a girl in a box (OK, so it's more of a suitcase).

Well, Outlaw Star draws heavily on some major Sci-Fi conventions, and in fact has a lot in common with Cowboy Bebop in that regard. Both, as well, are wonderful shows. Firefly reminds me of them more than the other way around (you gotta recognize who came first), but in a good way... When Mal opened the crate and it was River in there, I remember thinking how totally awesome it was that Joss had brought some of my favorite things about sci-fi anime to life in a very real way, while retaining a voice that is uniquely his... taking all the good things that had come before and making them better. And then bringing in new elements that transcend the genre, turning a "sci-fi/western" show into something living, breathing, and almost painfully real.
In short, Outlaw Star rocks! But it's just a child's drawing compared to da Vinci's Firefly.

Very True
I remember when I seen the the first commericals for FireFly, I said to my self "that kinda looks like Outlaw Star?"
I'm glad to note that it wasn't, though.
