Slow, measured, calming.
Okay. Let's try this again.
Some 24+ hours ago, I wrote a lengthy response (I know what you're thinking: JQ, wordy? Never!) encompassing all or nearly all the IMPonderers and IMPonderables up to that point. It's gone. I vanished and I have no one to blame but myself. Instead of the two window method I usually employ I hit the back button. That was fine of course until, distracted by Donatello trying to assist me clicking the mouse, I navigated away to another thread. Backward, forward; it didn't matter the text was gone.

The main reason I was trying to catch up was of course explained in the rant that opened my post. Some of you may remember that I played hooky from work so that I could meander around FFF.net at my leasure. Which was great for a while. Until (oh yes there's that whole weather thing going on) high winds, not storm, not snow, knocked out the power for no less than 8 hours. Eight Freakin' Hours! I was beside myself. So when the power at last came on, I had a lot of pent up posting to do as well as catching up on what I had missed. I finally was close to finishing my post (I was basically signing off, but had to check one last quote of someone) and...see paragraph above.

For now I just want to say Welcome Siri! Glad to have stop by. We hope you stay a while (Imponderables is absolutely addictive.) We tend toward the ridiculous and the sublime simultaneously and frequently have more than one ponderation going at a time. It's a lively place that makes you think and let's you vent. A Browncoat's Candy Land.

Alright. Enough for now. Hugs and love to all my friends. I'll be back at some point with real, actual thoughts to share. Tonight's not the night...Be at peace.

"Well, here I am...Does that seem right to you?"

Oh, Jonny, I feel your pain. Staying home to meander through FFF.net, then 8 hours of no electricity, and then to type up one of your wonderful rants only to have it disappear. The Fates have been very cruel to you. Keep breathing.

I will be looking forward to your posts tomorrow!

That's happened to me before as well, Jonny. It must be God's joke on the long-winded. I'm sure it was insightful, but in reality, there's probably very few people who would have read all the way through it. That's how I feel when I make long comments, anyways.

I've also been looking to drop this in to one of the conversations here, but I can't seem to find an appropriate opening, so I'll just say it now. I've had all of my waivers and documentation approved, I go in Monday to be sworn back in to the U.S. Army and receive a briefing. I can't express how happy I was to hear this, suffice to say, the process has taken a little over half a year to date.

It's amazing what one phone call can do to a person. I haven't felt this content with my life in over a year, and it's made me reflect on how and what I've been doing. I really ought to thank everyone here for putting up with me, while none of us really need each other socially, I chose to stay here and all of you chose to put up with me in your own ways. I found FireFly during a time when my country, friends and family didn't want or have time for me. To that end, certain people here, and anyone associated with the Verse' became surrogates. Now my country wants me back, and I can't help but feel a little guilty leaving behind everything that supported me mentally and socially when I didn't have anything else. But we all have to walk our own paths eventually, something I'm sure the majority of you understand better than I do.

For what it's worth, I'll still be around for a little while. Probably a month at least, I'll get the exact details about that on Monday. Even so, I just want to say that it's been a pleasure knowing you all.

Place my body on a ship and burn it on the sea,
Let my spirit rise, Valkyries carry me.
Take me to Valhalla where my brothers wait for me.
Fires burn into the sky, my spirit will never die.

I read 'em Chris, every word. Maybe the babbling kindred spirit forces me to. But I always enjoy reading your stuff whether I'm in agreement or not. I don't know about insightful but...eh. It's over, it's done. There will be others.

Congratulations, Chris. I know this is what you've been waiting for and as soon as he gets back from his weekend, I'm sure Tristan will echo that.

I of course have mixed feelings about this, and it has nothing to do with politics. Regardless of how I or anyone else feels about the Irag war at this point, I know why you are doing what you do. And I am grateful, son, that there are folks like you out there watching over us, guarding and defending us, and giving so much of yourself for us. I will miss you when you deploy, but even over there it's possible to get on line (there are a couple of Browncoats over there now that check in every once in a while. I hope you can. We'd love to hear from you, how you're doing. You'll always have a home here in the 'Verse.

Come back when you're done. 'Cause I need a sparring partner here. I'll pray for you while you're there. And I want dibs on any schrapnel you may pick up--and here's hoping you don't; I'll honor it.

This is so sad - I am a grown woman sneaking around on my Dad's computer...

Hello FMF haven't seen you for ages sweetie! How are you and did all my weirdo rejects work their way over to you now? I'd begun to think it was just me - but maybe it is all wonderful, warm and sensitive women in general coz my best friend has had a couple too... {{HUGS}} sweetheart! (& look for a PM from me too!! )

Chris Congratulations!! I know how much you've been hoping for this!!

Hugs Little Albatross, VerseExplorer, NVGhostrider, RIMG and JohnnyQ and applogises for missing anyone - you know what it's like when you're running in and out very briefly!!

Oooooh - Hi Siri welcome to the thread - it is so good to see you here too!! Please stay, and ponder some impoderables with us some more!!

*looks over her shoulder*

Uh Oh - got to go... here comes my Dad! Bye!

Magda, so nice to see you got the computer away from your Dad for a few minutes. Hope to hear more from you soon. Maybe we can help you think of some distractions to get him away from the computer more often.

Chris, thanks for sharing your joy with us. We will be thinking of you. Keep us posted.

FMF, there are far too many wierdos around. Identifying them early is a good thing.

Hi folks.... long time no post, I know... been kinda busy... was doing two shows for awhile, down to one now, and I had all that college app business, which is mostly over with. (I stupidly am only applying to a few state schools. Private schools i think would always make me feel bad for spending tons of money.) I don't know if i'll post more, I just wanted to say hi, and I'm real happy that ya'll are still plugging away.

I'm actually rather sick at the moment (had my first fever dream last night, quite the exciting thing), but of course, no rest for the wicked AP student. But as always, you guys are here being all happy and joyous and stuff....

Last five years? Wow... uh... so when I was... twelve? I could not be more different. I think it was about two years ago that I feel I cast off a lot of this tiny child sorta stuff, started thinking of myself as an adult, as an artist, as someone who doesnt give a damn what other people think (except, ya know... when its good). But then I guess us teens change a lot in them five years. Blah now i'm a cliche! darns!

Love to all.
