Stupid Question re DVDs

Showing my ignorence here, but I've only had a DVD player a few months and I havn't picked up on all the finer points, specificly. I keep reading comments like "I watched Serenity with the commentary"

I don't see that option on my DVD's menu...how do you watch an episode with running commentary?

Is it an Easter egg or something - or am I just dense?

No no... no Easter Egg... that's on Disc 4 and the instructions are in another post...

To get the commentary, just go into language setup and choose YES for the commentary.

And its not a stupid Q, as some DVDs put the commentary option in different places. It can get quite annoying.

All you have to do is go under the options, it's under the languages menu- You should see it for the eps that have the commentary-
Most DVD's now have special highlights for added commentary, but many (like FF) have to go into the languages menu to do it-

There's an easter egg goodie on disc 4??? By golly, I think I've missed that lil gem! I just love surprises.

But as for the commentary, I just wanted to add that there isn't one for EVERY episode. There is for the pilot, of course, but ya gotta check each one individually to see whether there is or isn't. I could post whch episodes have them but I'm too lazy and I think it's more fun to discover that stuff on ones own.

Actually, on the back of each case it says "Optional episode commentary by Executive Producer Joss Whedon," or something, under the summary.

Oh sure, you COULD read that stuff on the box. But like instructions, who actually takes the time to look at any of that ? :)

They don't like it when you shoot at 'em.

tsk tsk tsk... although I share your opinion of instructions (most of 'em are worthless anywho...) you just gotta read the episode summary. I think they are funny. Like some yahoo @ FOX was trying to give away the suprise for each episode.
