Harold95, I came to the verse in much the same way, watching the movie first, then finding out about the series and watching those next.
After you watch the behind the scenes you HAVE to re-watch the movie. Serenity is awesome, but it's even better after you've come to know and love each character. There's so many little things they throw in that you'd only really catch if you watch the series!

what i have just realized is that there is commentary on most of the shows, so now i am rewatching all the shows, with the commentary.
there is allways good stuff with that information.
i knew the movie had it, but the season dvds were kinda elusive.

I would venture to say that 95% of us browncoats were intruduced to Firefly through Serenity. This tells me that 1) the series was poorly pubisized and 2) if we had the numbers then that we have now we still (at this time) may have a weekly dose of the veres.
Anyhoo, didn't a browncoat come up with the idea of pitchforks and torches and a marshmellow roast(subsitute marshmellow with F*X) at F*X's place? I'm in :)
