I'm sure it has been asked before;is Firefly dead? Are there any plans for a new series or perhaps another movie? If so, then please share what info you have on the topic.
Thank you,
Brent

As for actual filmic material: Joss has plans. We can safely assume that the actors also have plans, dependent on Joss'. What Joss doesn't have is production money. We're currently working on the theory that there's at least one sane person in Hollyweird, and that they'll eventually notice money coming in and greenlight us. Our plan is to keep spreading the word and selling DVDs.

..Not dead..not as long as we are here. There have been rumors of more comics/graphic novels... Apparently all the actors have signed options should Universal decide on another film; (I believe those options expire sometime late next year)...we haven't heard much in the way of actual "hope" but that's the way things work in film/entertainment land. But, I believe, being a brand new (August 2006) 'fan' that the base is growing every day..and at Dragon*Con last year there were not only a large number of browncoats but also executives from the Sci-Fi channel (which is airing a Firefly Marathon on Dec. 12, BTW)...so the more people who show up to be counted, the greater the chances that someone, somewhere will get a gigantic "idea" lightbulb above their head.. Also we do what we can here you can join the Sci-Fi web forums and chat up your love of the show to encourage Sci-Fi to pick up the series...lots to do, lots to do...keep plugging....Death is not an option.

Well, let's see...
The show originally aired in September 2002.
The movie was released September 30, 2005.
It's now November 2006 - we're still here, and by rights we shouldn't be.
Mostly, things don't happen as fast as we'd like, but so far they have happened.
My advice, keep watching for news, keep posting on FFF.net and on sites like this, loan your DVDs out to whoever you can, whenever you can, and Firefly will keep right on flying.
If we want more, we're going to have to fight for it.

There was a recent interview with Joss on Fanboy radio where he said he is not interested in novels.
It can be found here:

He said he wanted to work with the actors and that it would have to involve them in some way.
The comic may be released possibly next spring.
Also, Summer Glau hinted that she and Joss might do a "little something", but gave no details. Anybody know anything about this?

My gut is telling me with each passing day that hope is dying out. I just can't see us getting any more tv shows. Maybe we have a shot at another film, but even that isn't looking too likely. The options on the actors contracts expire sometime next year and according to Joss the phone isn't ringing. Things would have to pick up in a hurry if you ask me. I mean Joss has 2 other movies in line before he could even think about Serenity 2. Now I don't know how contracts work, but it sure seems like those other movies are not getting out of the way before the end of next year.
The actors have all seemed to move on to new series and movies. They're not just sitting around by the phone. I think it is getting increasingly difficult to pull them all back together.
They are also aging. I mean summer is no teenager. She's not "just a kid" anymore. It was noticable even in the BDM that our crew was getting older. Even if the movie is set some years in the future, would it seem very realistic that everyone is still on the ship together after years in the verse? Not to me. That situation should be fluid, but I also don't want a movie that's like "oh yeah and btw Zoe left to go become a nun and Simon died...anyway we're in some whacky mess today with some new folks...come and watch".
I think my hope for anymore Serenifly on film is dying pretty quickly. At least we can still buy up comics, but the Serenity comics were far from impressive.

You never know. The movie was a surprize. If that can happen then I don't see why there can not be more.
If memory serves me right there was ten years between "Aliens" and "Aliens II".
It was a long wait, but it did happen.
While I wait I have my DVD's. I'm going through them again this last couple of weeks. I don't lose interest in quality. I will watch this series a lot over the years. And now I have the movie to add to the viewing. So you see we have gained more Firefly. So I'm happy with what I have and will hope for more. Hope doesn't cost much and it is nicer to have.
I also vote at that web site we have posted and we are number five and headed towards number four in the best show of all time. Not bad when you think of sixty years of television.
Joss is a talented person. He may want to do something else. If he does, than we may not get Firefly, instead we might get something different but just as great as Firefly.
