Im looking to start a PnP Firefly campaigna and will be using D20 Modern as the core rule set. Has anyone else tried this? Anybody have a better idea? Thanks!

Some here on fff.net have suggested Traveller (The Original Version) ...
I have those rules and I could see the use of Traveller .. info about this is other threads and at least one blog here on fff.net
My personal thought was to use the (PnP) Red Dwarf: The Roleplaying Game
( http://www.deep7.com/games/reddwarf/ ... FAQ about the game is at http://www.deep7.com/games/reddwarf/faq.html ) produced by deep7 games
the game has a cinematic feel to it and uses 2d6 to randomize rolls ...
deep7 also produces variants of the system that is the basis for the Red Dwarf RPG .. just some tinkering is needed and viola

I've looked into D20 Modern, as well as T20 (the Traveller d20 rules, rather than the original Traveller rules), and I have to say Traveller is a much better fit than Modern. It's got many of the same feats, but sticks to the vision and technology found in Firefly. The free "lite" (still 60 pages long!) rules for T20 are available online - do a Google search and I'm sure you'll find it.
I'm using T20 for my Neverwinter Nights Firefly system, and every time I add a feat or a skill, I think "this is RIGHT for Firefly."
