So I was lying in bed last night and it hit me: has anyone considered e-mailing Mark Cuban? It wouldn't be just another "maybe this billionaire would save our show" type thing. Mark owns HDNET, and is always looking for original HD content. Think we could convince him to take a look at Firefly? I know he is very responsive to e-mail, and I might shoot him one. Just didn't known if a mass campaign would be a good idea or not.

Food for thought..

This is a good idea. Sure worth a try. Cuban seems to like to give people what they want - why not Firefly? He's not so rigid and conservative as many media execs and he's young enough to appreciate the fan base - He has the venue, too. Let's do it... I'm in. (although with the NBA season cranking up, he probably is putting most of attention on the Mavs - still worth a shot)

a couple of links – first one is an email address to the basketball team and may not actually get to Cuban, but the second link is to his own blog which addresses other things going on in his empire… hope this helps

Well, I wrote and got a response...I think I wasn't specific enough to say 'new episodes', but even then all I wanted to do was plant a seed. My original email:

Quote:

Dear Mark,

Will keep this short. I know you're always looking for great HDNET programming, and wanted to encourage you to check out the canceled tv series Firefly and subsequent movie Serenity. Even 5 years after the shows untimely demise, the fan base for the show is still going strong.

So queue up Firefly in your Netflix account and think about what the show could do for HDNET. Thanks!

His response:

Quote:

we have looked at them. THe existing eps dont meet our quality standards.
The graphics were created on tape.

thanks,

M

Anyways, i have done my good firefly deed for the week. Better luck next week!

I just emailed him also, through the HDnet website. I made sure I was clear about acquiring rights from Fox and wanting a second season (or more). Hope this will spark something, at least a response.
