Quark. About space garbage collectors. Was supposed to be a comedy...

Not enough Sci-fi comedies nowadays.

I got it. And I'll just hide over here behind the Roddenberry bush, okay?

I'll also second that one and add Land of the Giants.

Now we'll find the old folks hereabouts.

Yes I watched this not really knowing at the time it was supposed to be a comedy. I actually loved that show. The lead actor was a well known comedian of the time and he had those two blonde twins and I think a robot on his crew? Been so long, it'd be a different laugh a riot now.

Alienation was so good. What happened to that?

If I'm a bitch, then life just got interesting

Let's see...Richard Benjamin was the stalwart captain, the rest of the crew I can kinda remember character names and traits but not who played 'em (hey--it's been thirty years and wish to gorran hell they'd put this...and When Things Were Rotten--out on DVD)Ficus was the 1st mate and was half human half plant (and doing a deadly Spock imitation ) Betty and Betty were the blonds, one was a clone but they didn't know which, Jean/Gene kept switching sexes or some such thing and they took commands from Palindrome who was assistant to The Head.

Please correct anything I've mis-remembered.

Damn, I remember Quark. I was working nights and only saw 1 ep, but it was great. Then it got cancelled, faster than Firefly, I think.

But I agree with your conclusion- we need more *FU*N*N*Y* Sci-Fi.

First thing I thought of when I saw this thread. Looking back ( and having seen 1999 come and go ) it's hilarious that the premise of the show was what it was. Maybe the new version could have another method for the moon taking off on it's great adventure.

People love a happy ending. So every episode, I will explain once again that I don't like people. And then Mal will shoot someone. Someone we like. And their puppy. - Joss

Not to mention what they could do with the special effects nowadays with 1999...but they'd have to leave the ship design alone.

I agree with you there!

So the general concensus is we need a funny sci fi show and definitely a remake of Space 1999. Firefly is a given and Lost in Space a cool idea.

I'd like to see Blake 7. I've never seen the original. This is how I found out about Firefly, through a dicussion like this.

Ok, don't throw stones at me please, tomatoes if you have to throw anything... But I'd like to see BSG have "guest appearances" of other space franchises. I'd like to see Serenity show up again, or Buck Rogers, or Voyager, Jupiter2, etc.

There was a short-lived series on British TV in the 80s called Star Cops - it was set in the near future (circa 2027), concerning a newly set up international police force for space.

The tech was very realistic - small colonies on the Moon and Mars, only one space station actually having artificial gravity (rotating of course) etc. It was a bit slow paced and didn't really shine, but the idea was good.

I'd like to see it with modern makeover, snappier plots and character dialogue a-la-You-Know-What...

another one:
There was a thing on a few years ago, don't know the title, about these 2 black guys in space in a convertible with a female personality. Sorta Boys in Tha' Hood or The Boondocks in Space. maybe the Wayans Brothers?
Only saw 1 or 2 eps, but it had great potential.
