As a statistician, I am always willing to help out a student taking a statistics class. Just be careful about the assumptions you are making if you try to put forth a thesis from this data!

How many years have you been a Firefly fan?

Since the first episode aired on Fox.

How many DVD sets (Firefly only) have you purchased? (include gifts)

None. I showed it to my brother but he didn't dig it. Not interested in converting people.

(Optional) Just for fun, how did you first discover Firefly?

It was either in the Maxim tv fall preview from that year or a Fox commercial. Don't remember which I saw first, but I remember being intruiged by both.

WE HAD GONE THROUGH OUR LOCAL VIDEO STORE'S SUPPLY OF BUFFY, ANGEL, THE SOPRANOS, THE WIRE, THE SHIELD, MI-5...A FRIEND HAD BEEN RECOMMENDING FIREFLY FOR YEARS AND WE DIDN'T HAVE ANYTHING ELSE TO WATCH THAT WEEKEND...AND WE WERE INSTANTLY HOOKED.

My husband is a huge Buffy fan. He used to watch Buffy all the time and I groaned a self pity groan when he talked about Buffy. I went into another room when he watched Buffy for half a day. Then he got Firefly and I hoped it wouldn't be like another Buffy. I talked about Firefly ever since he brought the show home.

My Firefly and Serenity DVDs were gifts. I have given Serenity as a gift but not Firefly.

Roughly? About 30. Including my in-laws.

Saw the commercials on TV. My wife and I were already Whedon fans via the Buffy Verse, figured we'd give this one a shot too. Saw the Train Job and the rest is history.

4. I discovered it by accident whilst browsing for something that might be worth seeing; I hired Serenity and enjoyed it enough that I was willing to give Firefly a go - by the end of the pilot, I was hooked.

My little brother, and my parents, begged me to watch it with them for over a year - the night before I moved across the country I consented (and then stayed up all night so I could watch every episode). I was one of those converts that took a lot of effort and just fell completely in love once I saw it. Kind of like me and romance ...
