Here's a sobering thought: We're kicking our own ass in Iraq.
Un-exploded cluster bombs a threat in Iraq

Somewhere else I heard that there's a possibility that we may have been mistaking one for the other, and our guys may have in fact on occasssion have been running into our own unexploded cluster bombs in Iraq, and thought that they had struck an IED. There are apparently literally millions of these cluster bombs around Iraq. There are 300,000 or so in southern lebanon left by the Israelis, and occassionally they are still killing people in Europe from the Clinton campaigns there.
Adding it all together, in my unscientific manner, but I think seriously approaching the truth, that we have about 2 million dead in the ME from this overall conflict 1991-present, another 1 million from the 1980-1991 portion where we were not directly involved but our weapons were, thanks to Mr. Rumsfeld, who yes, PN is right, did sell nuclear technology to NK. It's worth bearing in mind that China has still done a lot more to worsen the NK situation than we.
So, not to say "Arabs can't fight," because clearly they can, witness Hezbollah victory in Lebanon and the regional battles in Iraq, not to mention our recent surrender in Afghanistan.
Recent change in our negotiating strategy, and retreat to Kabul, even subsets of Karbul:

and our handover of troop command to NATO:

Translates into one simple fact:
We surrendered. We surrendered command of our troops and support of the govt'l allies of our choices, the associated agenda items and political ideas. We forfeited the positions over power, all territory and control over our own troops. Not only did we surrender, we surrendered completely, if not unconditionally. Not great news going into an election.
Still, I would rather have us surrender than cut and run.
